please feel free to tell me what the bloody hell all the different versions/screens/types of movis/games etc these have!! i have looked in the search but still confused v1.5 2.0 etc etc. I want to buy one for my lass with a game what should i get?? an e bay imported one with jap manual? one from a shop here? i havent a clue about them. anyone fancy explaining in laymans terms?

best off getting a PAL on as its designed for this country

the versions is down to how new the firmware is on it, in theory the newer the better, but this is updateable.

movies come on the from of a UMD , basically a sony minidisc but rounded edges

there is no such thing as pal when talking about psp's.

basically, if you want to play uk UMD movies (which i think are over priced and not worth the money anyway) then get a UK or Jap one, if you don't care about movies then get any one as all the games are region free, its only the movies that aren't.

If you are going to be buying games and not pirating them then again, doesn't matter what firmware you get although 2 would be good as you get extra features over the 1.5 version.

Ebay is a good place to look as the Uk shops still seem to be sold out most places.

FW is upgradable just get the cheapest one you can find. It will play mp4 so you can get software that will create movies to go on the psp. (your need a 1gb card though)

When you update to version 2.5 you get a free (region free player)
