sony vaio

  Golf GTi Mk2
I bought an E series sony vaio lastnight that has an epic amount of Sony pre installed crap on it, can I just haphazardly uninstall all of it in the control panel or will there be repercusions? Also it came with a years free subscription to norton 360 v4.0, is it worth installing or will it slow me down to a crawl like previous Norton used to.
Thanks in advance

Go to Sony support site, download the drivers you'll need [chipset/wlan/ethernet] to get you up and running. Download an OS of your choice [assuming that like my Vaio FZ, they didn't supply an OEM Windows disc], reformat and do a clean install - it's the only way to be happy with your machine, Sony pack it full of bloat.

Get Avast, or AVG as a free AV solution.

Nope, no oem disc, just a recovery partition, can I download Windows 7 home premium legitly anywhere or am I heading off to the torrent sites? I take the key on the sticker will activate ok and isn't tied to this install?
Thanks again.

Do you work for Norton? Nobody in the right mind would recommend it. AVG is ample for the majority of users, me included.

No i dont normal norton internet security is heavy on system memory etc , 360 is much more smoother and works well with windows 7 , another top antivirus for windows 7 is NOD32.

Avg is poor , its free for a reason and you dont have enough protection its better than none but i certainly wouldnt trust it.

Funny, I've used AVG for about 6 years and never had any problems. I visit some dodgy sites too.

I just deleted everything off once I got mine, including Norton. Got a copy of NOD32.

Try Avast free edition for anti virus.
