spacers and lowering what works?

I'm thinking of dropping my car between 40mm to 60mm can i still put 10mm spacers on and if i do apart from the look, will it have much of an effect on the car? handling wise? and will they rub on the inner arches?

you'll only get a 172 down as low as 60mm with coilovers. No -60mm springs for the 172 as far as I know, for a very good reason.

They are stock mk2 phase 2 172 16" alloys, just wanted to widen the track slighty and drop it about 60mm. will it rub the arches?
