Spanishflys track toy.

  Astra coupe t, nova
Been a very busy few months for me. I have moved house, have a baby on the way which has meant buying baby related stuff... for example the rollcage has been replaced by a mamas and papas buggy, car seat blah blah lol

Here however is a small update of how it currently stands.
Whiteline RARB on

So I had a crack in my manifold so i've used this op to change it and put on the decat... need to order a new exhaust gasket and o ring as it is a coont of a job really.
Inlet off:

Also found time to fit my HIDs... they don't work lol Not so plug n play then:(
199746_10150448459735018_699605017_17453519_7399728_n.jpg

Need to get the old lambdas out the cat.. looks like it'll be fun.

Have just ordered a full poly bush kit.

Another update:
So I painted two front wheels. Ford Graphite Grey, I will be applying a yellow pinstripe around it. I was gonna go illuminous yellow, however I don't want extra attention from the Babylon! Note good use of crap tiles...

197826_10150454055615018_699605017_17517493_8075051_n.jpg

Then went for weight saving, took the twin horn set up off, and refitted just one, with no brackets. This also made weight for the next mod.

I then fitted my oversize brake ducting...
200298_10150454111505018_699605017_17517927_4988367_n.jpg

Then I removed this crap... Carbon canister.

Total weight saving: 2kg

Just read from the start and it's a really good project. Keep up the good work... Can't believe how much unnecessary weight you've managed to shed!

  Clio RS1
Hi ! very nice car !! What about the Whiteline rear bar ?? Did you feel any changes on the drive feeling ?

  Astra coupe t, nova
So as always I get carried away, so here's todays update:
I removed this lot, from the passenger side, originally my plan was to keep the front carpet. I removed it to remove the tar deanding stuff, this made me realise the carpet is actually quite heavy, it is rubber backed... so...
200515_10150455282755018_699605017_17532451_440789_n.jpg

The wheels were finished off with lacquer, 2 coats. after the first one it rained, luckily it hasn't ruined it.
206671_10150455286850018_699605017_17532459_6891741_n.jpg

Went to mum and dads to look through the stuff I had, found my old nova stud conversion, fit the clio yay!
206853_10150455386165018_699605017_17533165_7633778_n.jpg

This was the reason I moved the carpet... looks heavy.
207372_10150455407590018_699605017_17533372_7115033_n.jpg

That lil lot is around 2.5kg
188969_10150455435905018_699605017_17533609_7584203_n.jpg

I'm assuming this is the airbag ecu, any consequences if I remove it and the wiring loom?
208835_10150455439455018_699605017_17533629_3581192_n.jpg

Pile got bigger...
196708_10150455456970018_699605017_17533784_4345549_n.jpg

Then I used brake cleaner to clean glue off, got high as a kite!
196767_10150455474195018_699605017_17534002_3575781_n.jpg

Then got the drill and spot weld drill bit...
199033_10150455513585018_699605017_17534409_4336155_n.jpg

Then used hammerite silver, which is quite a good match, the middle one don't have much paint hence black looking.
199767_10150455514425018_699605017_17534416_2018873_n.jpg

Whilst trying to remove the pass airbag cover (wanna use it to cover the hole) I sliced my finger, quite hardcore. Not wanting to get blood everywhere I used a workshop plaster
208959_10150455527385018_699605017_17534542_1974498_n.jpg

So with the wheels dry, I applied the final touches, hopefully they look ok on the car.

Hi ! very nice car !! What about the Whiteline rear bar ?? Did you feel any changes on the drive feeling ?

Thank you mate, I haven't driven it yet, doing a whole load of things together. However I'm pretty sure I will, on my astra coupe turbo it made a massive difference.

  Astra coupe t, nova
Small pre-work update...
Both seats now in, thinking the passenger seat may be too far forward, it's alright for me but a 6ft+ person may struggle. lmao
206620_10150473369125018_699605017_17548038_2236935_n.jpg

I then set about removing the complete airbag system, all the wiring etc. I won, and as a bonus the airbag light went off:) Now to sort the ABS light thats on and i no longer drive looking at a christmas tree:)
208866_10150473894105018_699605017_17548252_1102697_n.jpg

I then used a little bit of carbon to cover the hole that appears when you remove the sound deadening. I've done this as sods law something will drop in there, and as its the chassis rail it'll get stuck the to rattle and slowly kill me on long journeys!
205619_10150474025145018_699605017_17548499_4780280_n.jpg

Weight saved today: approx 1kg

  Astra coupe t, nova
Great read, car looks really good too
Thanks matey

Love this thread mate, think I might take out all the airbag wiring myself
Cheers mate, yeah it not hard, get to the ecu then follow the colours back. Be careful of the handbrake light wire as it's part of the driver seat loom, remove that one and your fine to cut the drivers and passenger looms out. Pass airbag is easy to get out too. Drivers a bit more complicated (I would leave it if I did it again tbh) The loom then goes to a blue plug that clips onto the fuse box. You can lose all that. That should also turn the light off:)

Poly bushes and exhaust gaskets turned up today:) So means I can get it back together. Bought some spare arms to fit the new parts to.

  Astra coupe t, nova
So as a masochist I decided to tackle refitting the manifold, de cat AND do the ARB bushes at the same time. Both irritating jobs. However completed:)
A few pics:
Back together
200036_10150486606250018_699605017_17560059_7731679_n.jpg

De cat on, so the system is 2.5" yozza decat to a btb system:) Sounds good
205603_10150486608095018_699605017_17560063_756189_n.jpg

Old worn bushes vs new ones, this honestly was a fook!
188586_10150486622525018_699605017_17560115_1907823_n.jpg

200186_10150486625260018_699605017_17560140_3295414_n.jpg

So now I need to fit the lower arm bushes, need to get the welder out to do this as you have to weld sleeves to the arms.

  Astra coupe t, nova
Quick after work bit done. Lower arms and ARB back together, I then went to look at a mk1 clio 16v for a friend. There quite cool really.
All polybushed up
196763_10150492928250018_699605017_17621877_4913023_n.jpg

Lower arms and ARBs
198156_10150492930550018_699605017_17621930_5604985_n.jpg

Decat and arbs can be seen here. It has made the exhaust louder (Still well below track regulations) and now has popness.

Another after work update...
Got my newly painted wheels balanced so waxed them with wheel wax, and fitted them. Made sure I loctited the studs in first. Make wheel changes so much easier!
Think the yellow rim makes it not look so small
207507_10150537239820018_699605017_17636068_8104733_n.jpg

Plenty of camber now!

207049_10150537240615018_699605017_17636078_4918826_n.jpg

I then figured out the HID problem... the wires needed swapping around, so did that...
208793_10150537257170018_699605017_17636166_6622013_n.jpg

and got this!

Cheers matey. Just realised MOT is due on the 8th... was kinda the wrong time to put a decat on... oh well

  Astra coupe t, nova
Painted the 2.0 16v signs yellow
208344_10150538541350018_699605017_17645836_7613781_n.jpg

208376_10150538563395018_699605017_17646215_2340219_n.jpg

I've also painted the rear wheels and am waiting to lacquer them tomorrow. So that should mean the car can be used again:)

  Astra coupe t, nova
Passed the MOT, however the drivers electric motor died. So rather than replace I went to a scrappy and got these...
207480_10150547623935018_699605017_17742330_3604990_n.jpg

2x manual window regs, and a low spec dash:) More wiring to be removed:) Should save a bit of weight whilst being able to open my windows!

A quick lunchtime update...
206680_10150550392970018_699605017_17763856_5440028_n.jpg

Window winders fitted, and door cards off...

Weight saving ~ 3KG

I've also taken pics so I can do a guide for others to use:)
