Tailgate lock

I've got a mk3 1.4 clio and the tailgate has recently been quite temperamental in that it won't open, and I have to drop the rear seat and flick the manual switch, took it all apart last night with my dad and we tested all the connections etc, power in what seems to be all the right places from the button and the lock, we put it all back together and it seems to work again, not sure for how long as I suspect it is just still being temperamental.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Very prone to getting water into the release switch. Take it apart and have a look,
