Track tyre sizes

Gd evenin boys n girls! Can anyone here explain what size a track tyre is in normal terms ie: 195/45/16. the tyres in question are 170/600/16. cheers!

the usal size people use is 195 50 15.

Hi James, I was told that theyre equal to a 185/195 but cant give an acurate answer for some reason.

Thanks Bobby! i have 2 sets of 16 inch wheels tho and wanted to keep em. I did a track day last year and used 205 50 16 bridgestone potenza track tyres and had a problem with grip! Round the bendy bits the car 4 wheel slides and i need to stop this happening! i dont know what best to do with regards to tyres?

195/580/16
Race tyres are totally different to road tyres.
On a race tyre, the initial part is the tread width/actual diameter in mm/rim size.
Road tyre is overall width/percentage of overall width/rim size.
So just make sure the first number is about the same.

Thanks Adam yeah makes sense that does. May be i will just get 15 inch wheels as tyres are more plentiful new or used for track use. Thanks again. Regards Gordon.
