They are both unsafe imo.

The bulge is separation of the tyre's structure and is unsafe the chunks from the rim protector are legally ok but I would recommend a replacement

The chunk i wouldn't bother with, the bulge i'd probably replace.

Indeed. Went to check her tyre pressures. Found that. Doris be getting the train on Monday!

I definitely wouldnt like the tyre to pop on the motorway for the sake of £100, id replace both, that looks deep.

Getting all 4 done. 1 definitely needs doing, I'm not ecstatic about the 2 with chunks missing, so may as well go all in.

I'm not joking but we've just this week done the same to tge wife's clio, all 4 I ended up doing as there was punctures and chunks missing all over
