V16DAF's Cup - RS2'd/B14/Wilwood/2118

  172 cup RS2 - 330ci
Good work Daf!

Back on the road for the big meet?

Thanks Joe, no I don't think it will be ready. :-( the sheep will be lambing soon, and my father can't do much because he has torn something in his back. So I'll do what I can when I get free time.

Great progress, can't wait to see it all finished :) Give me a shout if you go to Anglesey Circuit this year.

Cheers Keith, yeah I probably will in July / August. With Javelin if I can, find them cheap and cheerful. Seen they do International layout in the morning and Coastal in the afternoon in 1 day. It seems like a really good idea.

I'm really excited mate. I haven't driven them, but I've been passengers in both and they feel great. The power just seems to be there constantly

It does feel smooth. I can't wait to get mine back on the road now either! Like a little boy at xmas

So I had a bit of free time the other day and took out all the dash, never done the bottom one before, was a bit awkward but got it out. I then removed all the sound deadening behind the dash and put it all in a bag, prob weighed close to 10kg :approve: Pics below -

Bottom dash was quite heavy as well, need to get the interior keyed and masked up now ready for paint

Did you have to take the top dash out before the bottom half. Also how much loose wiring is there behind the lower part of the dash? Just trying to figure out if its more trouble than its worth doing?

Yeah top dash needs to be removed first. Quite a bit of wiring behind it, all of it connects to stuff on the dash though. What do you intend to do?

Spent about 5 hours on the car today. I have removed the battery, planning to put a racing battery under the passanger seat just to help with the centre of gravity. Going to run the cable through the old water pipe that ran to the back washer.

The hole is right under the black cables

I tried to use tar remover on the tar spots on the roof, but it would'nt budge. Out came the handy grinder with a wire brush attachment, made short work of the tar

I then used 600 wet and dry paper to start 'keying' the surface. Got the roof nice and smooth as well :approve:

After a thorough clean I started masking everywhere that needed doing, takes ages!!!

Few more hours masking and a final de-grease and it'll be ready for a lick of primer

Ordered this today -

!CFLoFSgBGk~$(KGrHqUOKogE0fw1dGKKBNUUp,LTkQ~~_12.jpg

A Devilbiss filter regulator and coalescer filter that mounts to the wall, and I ordered a 10m 'air safe' breathable hose that will connect between the Devilbiss unit and my mask. Hopefully this setup will protect my health while spraying now

  172 cup RS2 - 330ci
So I had some spare time today, been able to make the spreader plates and I coated them with primer. Also fitted the Devilbiss unit on to the air lines, can't wait to use it. I need 1 more fitting for the breathable air hose then I'll be ready to paint the interior. I'll prob do the primer coat one night this week. My brother also wired up the lamps I fitted in the car pit. So much better now. Pics below -

Too :) loving the white cage and interior idea

Will look forward too seeing it back on the road mate :) lovely cup . Whats the rs2 like?

Yeah it's well worth the installation, pulls so well. And sounds nuts :) Few lads from the Chester area have them fitted now. Joe who has commented above has just fitted one in the last few months. I see James is doing another group buy as well

  172 cup RS2 - 330ci
Isit hard too fit then bud? Who mapped it for you ?

Took me about 4 hours on my own, it's quite easy TBH. I had a little more room than the cars fitted with Air Con though, got it mapped by Paul in RS Tuning. You thinking of getting one?

  clio 172 phase 2
Possibly mate got a big tax rebate coming might be a nice investment ;) wheres the page where the group buy is mate?

I prob could have got away with spraying the basecoat straight away but I had some bare metal bits to cover, so I gave it some primer first. I will sand it down Tuesday night and get it ready for the basecoat

  172 cup RS2 - 330ci
Pics of the interior in mondial blue - Needs flatting back and polishing to finish off. Quite happy with the outcome. I finished it about 12.30 am on Sunday morning. Pulled the masking tape off last night, I will sand it down 1 night this week. Will have to use my left hand as i've pulled my tendon in my right shoulder in a rugby tournament last Sunday :dapprove:

The paint looks great :) Exterior next? Lol

Are you doing Anglesey on the 22rd June?

Cheers Joe, I'm happy with it. For a £40 gun it's not bad. I'm not sure if I'm good enough to do the exterior really. No I don't think I'm going to be able to make it, but if I do I'll book it later. I've booked the Llandow day with burpspeed in August so far

Dash installed, polished interior, roll cage installed, and seats back in :) The interior is done......
