water system bleeding up?

Hi. ive recently purchased my bro's (len beach on here) phase 2 172 and theres been a few niggly bits ive been sorting. He told me he had suspicions that the head gasket had gone. ive yet to do a leak test but i wanted to sort the water system out first as it may just be an air block. Does anyone have any idea how i bleed the water system up? Thanks
