wheel refurbishment in leeds?

  Inferno 182FF
hi all i am new to this forum after buying a clio 182ff i am based in leeds and was wondering if anyone knew of a place that i could get my wheels refurbished they have been powdercoated recently but i want to put them black or grey in the past i have had my wheels done by cas coatings in bradford but as i need my plastic centrecaps doing aswell this is not an option?

any help would be great
thanks

Wheel specialist is Garforth is where we send most of our stuff and Brian does a very good job, push for discount as they always are flexible on price. I would aim to pay around £200 with them on 182 wheels. MSS wheel doctor in Morley are supposed to be good aswell and they offer wet and powered finishes.

Out of interest how do you find CAS coatings finish on the wheels? Did they do a good job? I'm thinking of sending my race wheels there, Thanks

they do a really good job they lacquer them they do come out very nice i often find them a little dull at first but a quick polish and a few layers of sealent does the trick! 5 sets of wheels done with them now from black to grey to white and i think i will most likely just get them to do this set and then just paint the centres as suggested! as they are so small and if the wheel is black should not look too bad!

plus for the price! £1 an inch for plain or 1.50 for metallic flaked powder coat you cant complain

Thanks for getting back to me mate :) That sounds really good then I will give them a set and see how they come out! Do they offer tyre removal or refit for an extra charge? Thanks again

When I went to CAS they just wanted bare wheels. I think there is a local tyre place that will take them off, then take them to CAS, then collect them and refit the tyres though. Not sure which one, but someone on here had it done.

yea they do require a bare wheel. i have a local tyre fitter mate who i just get to take them off. I think CAS said they can get them removed and then put back on for £20 but this would have to be checked with CAS

Another vote for the Wheel Specialist in Leeds - did my old 182's white wheels.

Drove in - drove out on a few hours. You pay abit more but its no hasstle...

Got to admit, if they were my only set of wheels I'd probably use them for the excellent service.

Their just so expensive, makes me upset paying it.

Out of pure curiosity how on earth do they measure that?

Is that £1 per square inch? £1 per inch of wheel diameter (can't see a set of 182 wheels costing £64 though!) Do they attempt to work out the entire surface area including spokes, lip, centre etc?

I live just next to wheel specialist, never actually used them though. I know Dan who works there so I could probably get a few quid knocked off, he was going to do my turinis for £150! I know the price is dear but all the hassle is sorted for you.

Used to have an Iceburg iirc, so he knows his RS's.

His brother had it, which is now mine. Dan 'claimed ownership' bless but after failing to fix it, let me take it away a year after it broke down.

He does a good job though, had countless wheels done there, no hassle.

Think I paid £40 a wheel to have my 182 wheels done by a mobile guy. He's based in Doncaster but I'm not sure how far he travels? Did a pretty good job!

CAS are just doing a set for the race car so will post up pictures when I get them back, they were brand new before they went so touch wood they are going to be okay!

I was pretty happy with my CAS wheels, just wish I had of known to tell them to use tape where the bolts sit on the wheel. The finish looked good and was durable.

I'd be tempted to have my Trophy one's done there if they had a good colour match, but they don't unfortunately.

No doubt the finish is better at somewhere like the wheel specialist though, you just need to consider if it's worth the extra cost to you, especially on a cheap car/2nd set of track wheels.

Yes I meant to ask them to do the same and also on the faces that go against the hub but then totally forgot to, I think I will have to get scraping :(

Did you pay for them lacquering Mike? I have gone for it in the hope they will last a bit longer with the aggressive pads!

Exactly but for me it was to check if I like the colour and probably couldn't of done them cheaper myself!

I didn't get them lacquered no, they were only track wheels.

It soon wears off on the face that hits the hub I found, but i think not asking to tape up where the bolts sit was one on the reasons my bolts were coming loose at Oulton once.

They looked shiny though

They look really good, mine were ready for collection this afternoon so I will go and get them at some point and put my photos up, Can't complain for the price :D!

Yes that is what I thought about asking them to do mine, annoyed at myself for forgetting but I will find something to try and get it off with!

Thanks
