Working out what iPhone I have from a model number?

Hi guys,

Stupid point this. I've got a wiped and charged 4S in a jiffy bag, ready to be sent off to Vodafone for a buy back credit. Trouble is, I've suddenly had a worry about whether I've selected the right option of 16gb or 8gb. I thought the basic model was 16gb on the 4S but now it shows 8gb for sale on Vodafones site?

Trouble is, the packet is sealed and also know I can't restart the phone without a valid sim (no idea where it's gone - probably chucked).

Anyway I can tell what model it is??!

Cheers.

Read the model number off the back, i.e. A1837, then Google it ;)

That's a 16GB 4S as an example

16GB was the smallest for their first year of sale, the 8GB was introduced when the 5 went on sale.
