Starting to think i might sell the 182 soon and free up some cash and buy a willy.

Am i mad ?

  Never above 25mpg
Nope, is a good driver's car and great fun from what people have said but being so old expect alot of maintenance and no ABS.

I'd go for a Williams 3 to be honest. Few more options and tweaks. Slightly different colour aswell

There's a Clio Williams forum somewhere. Have a look on google. Some really good info on there and it will tell you the difference between the 3.

My dad got a name origin thing done of our name, you know on a plaque with a crest and that, when you read it and single it all out it actually concludes that 'cunney' means handsome leader... I was impressed... Just didn't have the heart to tell my dad what cunny means on wikipedia :\ lol

If your going to get a Williams get an original ph1! The ph2 and 3 are still good tho. Spend the money on a decent one and you cant go wrong, all will have had there rear arches done at some point so just make sure they have been done properly. Awsome car!

Thinking same yesterday, personally wouldnt free up much cash against ph1 172. Sat in friends willy 3 after fitting clutch cable soo much more comfortable just the breakdowns that put me off slightly.

I considered getting a Williams before my Ph2 172. But for the cost of a good condition Williams there wasnt much price difference in it so i went for the 172.

I wouldn't.

The money you'll save from selling the 182 will be wasted on the Williams. The owners still have a strangely inflated price guide they use, so the "best" ones will be £3k+.

So lets say you get £6k for yours. You've got £3k to use to fix it, which will probably last a year if that as you'll have to pay for the rust to be sorted in the rear arches and you'll need a special tool (not Ali) to remove the spiders from the mirrors.

It's a massive step backwards. They're 15 years old.

No your not mad at all. I had a Williams 2 and it was one of the best cars i have ever owned. Absolutely gorgeous, drove like a dream and boy could you chuck it into the twisties.
Would have another tomorrow if i could :)

  Audi TT 225 Quattro
will be a good upgrade:rasp:;) honestly tho dont listen to the people who say they brake down all the time, ive had my hybrid ( basicly a williams ) for 4 years now and have used it every single day and it has'nt missed a beat... do it you won't look back

In have to agree with this man. He makes complete sense. I thought about selling my 182 for a 106 rallye but to buy a mint one of those i need to spend 3k like we said youd need to spend on a willy. I know its not the same type of car car but its the principle behind it. Then theres the running costs to go with it cos its an old car and even then it wont be as good as the 182 just like the willy wont be (IMO)
I think youd be mad to do it!! Like revels said, its a step back whichever way u look at it :)

If you are a true petrol head and know about cars then a williams is a great car to own.

However, if you are the sort of person who only buys new cars and thinks that car maintenance is driving to renault to whinge about a melted steering wheel on warrenty, then id stay well clear.

It's not a step back at all.

You want a Williams 1 not a 2 or 3.

www.williamsclio.co.uk/forum if you want Williams orientated help.

I had a Williams for 3 years or so, no problems at all. Much better drivers car but can be quite raw for day to day living.

lol! It was a huge let down for me! But then my return to 172 ownership was dull too!...

i wouldnt bother if its purely for money saving purpouses, i go through this stage with Renault 5 GTT's every once in a while but in reality its just not worth it!

I think that a Williams still turns heads and i'd deffo have one (not as an everyday car though) As said finding 'the minter' might take some time. If you can't find any, maybe consider going for the 'hybid' route, ok they aren't as sought after etc, but quite a few on here have cracking examples as they have had the time, effort & money spent on them.
