a marigold on the hand works for me with the oil filter. If that doesnt work get yourself an oil filter removal tool.

That might work with some cars but there's no way mine was coming off with that, not a chance. I bought a drain plug tool and snapped it. In the end I had a 10mm allen key machined down to an 8mm square to get it off. Even that now has a big twist in it!

Always use one of these and of course a hammer, changed the missus yesterday, seriously though if the oil was as bad as you say i would change the filter asap as they are not very big anyway and is probably full of gunk, and could constrict the flow of oil ;)

I used a massive pair of grips to get my filter off, crushed it in the process though. For some reason every single bolt or threaded thing on my car is done up ridiculously tight, or I'm just weak :p

spent half hour trying to get my oil filter of last time. gives the oil plenty of time to fully drain out anyway :)

Was it tight, or just impossible to get to ? I hope you removed the fuel rail guard first ;)

If the oil hasn't been changed since 'Nam, I guess the filter has welded itself on anyway. Hammer, big screwdriver or an old chisel .. bish bash bosh, you're away :)

Also, not the worst idea ever to change the oil again (and the filter!) after 500 or 1000 miles anyway if it was THAT bad...

Re: fuel filter, it's in with the pump. Non serviceable item IIRC. Go get a refund.

just struggled to get at it the filter tbh, i got a good grip but couldnt get both hands on it, i didnt know you could remove the fuel rail to get to it, im new to these cars/engines so its all a learning experiance lol

The socket adaptor is only £5 from halfords :)

I went to two different halfords and found nothing like that. They aren't good for much in there. They can't even tell you which aerial will fit a clio, their Renault one didn't fit!

Actually the oil filters ARE a b**ch on 182's. Mine certainly was, I used a chain strap and couldn't get it off - even with the fuel rail guard off. In the end I had to smash right through it with a screwdriver, not just pierce it, and turn it a little bit at a time. So no need to get shirty ;)

Calm yourselves down..... Its his car and if he couldn't get it off so made the decision to leave it for now is his choice.... Serious anger issues in here.

the people in halfords wont know what size you need, if you go in an ask for a 8mm (i think) adaptor then they will be able to help you :)

I'm not a morning person , but really you would use some common sense come on here and say cant get my oil filter off not I've just cowboyed it then brag about it, I'm well aware of who much of a b*****d these are but it would have took 10 mins to find out how to sort it out and do it properly.
I know its silly but I am an enthusist and I hate s**t like this.

@KEVRSI Funny that you told him to mind his own business, I think the threadstarter could say the same. It's his car, and he didn't brag about it at all.

Didn't even bother to ask, they usually can't help anyway :p There was nothing on the shelf so I assumed it wasn't stocked. Got a nice little tool made up for it now anyway, next time it should be a doddle.

agreed. Sometimes people are shy of doing a bit of legwork themselves. Look at all the similar posts we have had posted recently about the same thing (not this issue mind)

Pics of said M3 Mr forum user, I dont have the RSI anymore sold it and not a turd looks way better than a s**ty rep , and you have the idea of enthusiast all wrong its means you care about cars not drive about in 1 that screams I'm a total knob cheese.

Flol at an m3 being a rep mobile, this isnt a thread about my m3 its about someone needing help and you being a c**t... But since you asked so nicely

yeah just makes me think your a toss pot wanker knob cheese now, and you started insulting my car 1st, being an enthusiast I know the M3 is not a rep mobile but I only know that because I am an enthusiast, most people will see you driving like a t**t and think he's a t**t. When I was out in the RSI people liked it , stop trying to back track because you know your wrong.
