My Clio 182 has a tendency to trigger the alarm randomly, usually in the middle of the night.
I do the ol' three turns of the key to ignition and then lock the car trick so the alarm doesn't go off. This usually gives me the three beeps on locking.
It now has started to do four beeps on...
Thought I would provide an update.
Found out that a Renault specialist had opened up a few months back about a 15 minute drive from me.
Took the 182 and got the timing belt, dephaser, water pump and aux belt done. Would have needed doing by February 2026 anyway I think. Me and my partner are...
Well my first attempt with the jubilee clip failed.
Took me ages to get it in place and when it came to tighten it up, the clip slipped teeth.
I'll get a heavy duty clip ordered and try again.
Looking at the service history the belts and dephaser got done in 2022, at 98k miles. Car is on 108k miles now. I've only had the car a couple of months.
However, I've got a suspicion that someone has put a 172 engine in the car at some point. So whether or not the belts done in 2022 were in...
That's much appreciated thank you.
Had a quick look at the other belts/pulleys and I do think it's just that one that's off. Had to see though without taking bits off.
I'll have a try with the jubilee clip and hopefully I will be able to sort it.
Thank you again!
Thank you very much.
Would it be an easy thing for me to slacken off the tensioner and move the belt back on properly? How would I go about doing that?
Let me just preface this by saying that I'm a complete automotive noob. Jacked up a car and did a service myself for the first time ever only a couple of weeks ago, so this might be a really obvious question to most. But I thought I best ask anyway!
I was fitting the fuel rail guard (mine...
So I'm thinking I've got a 172 engine with the 172 phase 2 upper inlet manifold and breather plate in my 182. So it's had an engine swap at some point which I didn't know about.
The upper inlet manifold currently on the car has one pipe out the back and no big hole.
So I've accidently...
Okay now I'm confused.
So the breather plate in the 182 doesn't have that sticking up bit, but the phase 2 172 breather plate does?
If so, I've got the 172 breather plate on my 182?
Are the intake manifolds on the 172 same as the one in the 182?
Reason I ask is, I bought the fuel rail guard (mine is missing off my 182) and it came with the upper and lower intake manifold parts and the breather plate.
They were taken off a 172 but the listing said they would fit a 182...
Well went to change the post cat lambda sensor on the 182 today and it turns out it wasn't plugged it to begin with. No wonder it kept throwing the emissions code!
Why would someone leave it unplugged and purposely tucked out of the way if it was just going to throw up codes anyway?
Since I...
It has been really rewarding so far. Not doubt I'll be screaming at it at some point when I break a bolt or something 😆
Might be a good idea for me to set up a project thread. Be a centralised place for me to record what I've done to the car and ask any questions.
Another first for me today, successfully changed the spark plugs after managing to borrow the correct size socket. Wasn't too difficult.
My next task is to change the post cat lambda sensor. The emissions light is on and my code reader is saying the post cat sensor is the issue.
I've also got...
Performed my first ever oil change on a car today.
Always been interested in doing my own car maintenance but shyed away from it. Got a 182 a few weeks back as a run around and decided to do the service myself.
Air filter and cabin filter easy.
Jacked up the car (another first for me). Was...
