The whine pretty much happens when i accelerate, not any difference when i'm turning...... the noise was the same before all the work i mentioned was carried out so i suspect it may not be fitted or tensioned right. Thanks for all your replies, much appreciated, i'd love to let Fred take a look...

As the title would suggest, can anyone recommend a Renault specialist in Scotland or the North of England ? i want to get my cam belt checked out, had both the cam and aux belts changed along with all pulleys and tensioners + the power sterring pump and still have a bit of a whine coming from it :|

Anyone recommend a garage in Scotland or the North of England who could check my cam belt ? i had it done a while ago at a local garage and can still hear a whine coming from that area even though all pulleys were replaced along with the aux ones :| Any help much appreciated o/

It seems it may well be the PAS pump thats the problem, i've had both the timing belt and aux belts changed and checked, it also seems to be worse when turning the wheel at idle or low speed, anyone any idea how much a new PAS pump is likely to cost ?

A supercharger whistle/whine type of sound is a fairly accurate description of my noise also, i'll ask the garage if the aux belt and idler where looked at, i'm pretty sure they removed a belt somewhere before they came up with the timing belt theory. Theres a couple of similair posts at the...

After going out in it again and having a good listen i'm pretty certain it's some sort of belt pulley as the whine changes with the engine revs but it's harder to hear at higher speeds probably because it's spinning much faster, looks like i'm going to have to have it looked at again :( Thanks...

Thanks for posting that but it sounds nothing like it, it's more like an engine whine, i personally just figured thats how the engine was meant to sound i.e. bit of low rev whine before, having said that i'm no mechanic :)
