Mine was a TDC- Crank sensor You done anything to it recently?

Wipers work fine on both main speeds- just when you switch them off, they dont park at base of windscreen. They just stop on the screen whenever the switch is to off position. Intermittent wipe only works occasionally Rest of car electrics seem fine. MOT failure by the looks.

so is there no relay for front wipers? all integrated into UCH as 2 nd post says? Will have to look at the switch, or faulty motor? Thought a relay would control direction of motor for wipers etc etc otherwise, change UCH wherever that is, and understand that's a coding pain etc etc

^ ^ ^ Its front wipers I need, and that diagram shows DRL's which a phase 1 doesn't have Will get to bottom of it, by removing the relays 1 by 1 until the wipers dont work at all

Thanks- as another thread ive commented on, the relays are accessible under the dashboard passenger side, I understand Although wipers may well be controlled from within the UCH Lets hope a bit of prodding and poking sorts my issue (Wipers dont return to park up) or the MOT could get pricey

Any advice on the front wiper relay location on Phase 1 please? Havent looked yet, as rain never stops- but would start near the fuse boxes?- that right?

I was looking for the oval 2.0 16v phase 1 badge, but didnt find one in months of looking (Argument with a supermarket pillar- Pillar won but drove off without seeing the badge had gone) Ended up getting a replacement 16v oval badge for £6 off ebay. If anyone has a cheapish 2.0 16v badge...…..

Would suggest that if it your first track day, possibly upgrade the front pads (I use Mintex 1144's and theyre really good imo) and that's it Maybe get a turkey baster and remove some power steering fluid and put in a empty plastic water bottle, and take some fresh to put back in after...

I use Prestone coolant which has a good temperature range, and mixes with anything you've got Worked well for me the last 3 years- 172 Phase 1.

I took my phase 1 key to Timpsons (was located in a Tesco Supermarket Car park!) as I'd been having loadsa trouble- on a track day too- with the key not being accepted by the immobilser. Key press button was knackered, and had tried changing the battery, and an ebay refurb kit, and neither them...

Apparently (Thanks Steve) they dont do one. Run a Shaftec R218AR on my car for 5 years and 40k+ miles, so have no hesitation in recommending them.
