update: steering wheel is fixed - actually the squib was fine, and i refitted it, the clock spring thing, not fine, and had shorted, and melted slightly so unplugged it, and all now seems ok with steering the lack of power in all gears after 2.5k rpm is also now ok, i removed MAP sensor...

Car is track car - only driven to circuits not for general use

It’s only out by one or two teeth on the spline - but you are right - probably an experts job now - that’s if I can get a new squib

Which bit is the squib and which bit is the sensor What was the long tape like thing that unravelled ?? It was a bit of a surprise - like a huge clock spring

So will the codes say if the steering sensor clock thingy is broken ?

My mate has a diagnostic I think so he can clear codes / reset - I am in Essex near Southend
