I fixed a few older cars starter issues like this by putting a relay in the circuit to the starter kick, so the key trips the relay and the relay activates the starter kick. Old wiring and old ignition switches. Might be worth a go before you pull the starter. Cost less than a tenner.
I could probably just about buy that if I sold the Clio V6, 220 Trophy and abandoned all hope of paying my mortgage off in my early 50's, and to be fair, I probably would go for it, but sadly there is absolutely zero chance I would fit in it :(

Chop the heads off the bolts, drop the subframe off, cut the bolt shafts down, then pull the remainder out the other side.
You'll need new bolts and nuts obvs.
The spoiler and boot trim would make me wonder if its had a replacement tailgate...
It hasnt had the RS16 spoiler, you have to chop the OE spoiler to fit the copy ones. The genuine ones come with the correctly shaped under-spoiler already.
I'm the same age, with a MK4 220 Trophy. Can't fault it, great car, excellent all rounder. I use it to go to the shops, fast road, track, and everything in between. Easy to maintain, reasonable costs. I can't see me parting with it at all.
