You will need to redo the wiring as it’s not recommended to use cables that didn’t come with your PSU, they can even be different between models from the same manufacturer.
I can confirm the starter motor is dead. It worked one more time when I picked the wife up from work and then yesterday I tried it and I had a puff of smoke and a burning smell.
A new Bosch one is now on order.
Little update on this.
I’ve just come out to the car and it was still doing the same thing, no surprise there.
I turned the ignition on and held it there a few seconds until the starter motor started clicking again, much excitement!
Then I tried again and….
Obviously I’m very happy this...
In 10.5years of ownership I’ve not had to dip into this section as far as I know.
But here we are due to the old car doing old car things:
Right at the end of the video you can hear a sound from something under the bonnet. I’ve slapped a new battery on because the one on it was old anyway...
Try limiting the power in MSI afterburner. If it doesn’t give you any issues with the GPU set to 80% power limit you’ll pretty much be sure it’s the PSU.
Check the coil pack, the plastic might have a hairline crack in it.
If they haven’t been done recently I’d be inclined to replace the coil pack and the leads.
