Used a kit - it still leaks but a lot less. Kit is pretty easy to install.

The chirpy squeak from a failing thrust bearing is quite similar to the alternator sound when they are failing.

Ah okay - tricky to pick that up in the videos. As far as a squeak noise, I have seen that before when alternators are on the way out.
