    Brighouse here too, have a leggy Puma 1.7 atm, should be back in a 172 Cup by summer.

    Best thing I can think of would be to borrow or buy something like a 1.0 Yaris, use it for a month, sell/give back then jump back into yours. If that doesn't work then it might be time to change cars.
