My girlfriend bought me one of these 7-8 years ago, at first I thought Mac Allister.. that's going to be crap.. But it's actually pretty decent quality, sturdy and portable. I have a Racco handybox, and Stanley organisers etc. but the Mac Allister is where I keep my frequently used nuts and...
You should be able to get it into neutral from underneath the car, the gear linkage is underneath the car. Should be easy enough to remove the under tray if still fitted..
TRS do a teardrop one like that, but IMO I think they look a bit crap/awkward. I had the carbon "Aero" roof vent on mine and it looks much cleaner/in keeping with the car. GRP4 Fabrication do a similar one in GRP which is cheaper as well..
TRS Teardrop...
It's easy to underestimate maintenance costs, factor in engine and gearbox rebuilds, preventative maintenance on parts known to fail, such as driveshafts, wheel bearings, alternators etc. I had a spreadsheet for running my old Clio, taking into account an engine/gearbox rebuild every 2-3 years...
Crap turning radius as well! I had a pretty hot EP3 track car with 260hp, plate diff and a load of nice bits when my STDSA blew up, I very nearly canned the Clio to build that instead. The lack of lock put me off in the end, definitely makes them less competitive. If your not worried about being...
My advice if you are looking at getting into SS rallies, but have a tighter budget for running the car, would be to invest in a reliable platform from the start. An MX5 is a pretty reliable car as standard, but it's doesn't really have much scope to increase performance without getting into...
Is your experience of track days purely in FWD hatchbacks? I've done plenty of stage rallies in a FWD and a fair few track days in FWD and RWD cars. I can confirm track days in a FWD are pretty boring unless you have 250hp+, a RWD on the other hand is totally different, it's much more...
Sell the Twingo and buy something more fun/versatile, E36 328i or E46 330i would be a good reliable car. They are well suited to pretty much anything, with limited adaptions you could go from stage rallying to a track day or even drifting. You can use the car to suit your budget/interests at any...
Yes they are for circuit racing, two front two rear as far as I know. The organisers don't care about damaging your car if you go off though, in rally I have seen cars which could have been repaired, then recovered by putting straps through the roof which totaled the shell. Good reason not to go...
The cup racers were like this but with a solid tow eye, the wire rope towing eyes are a neat solution also but they wreck the bumper unless you are pulling the car directly from behind when recovering.
I dont think so, a used replacement 2.7 engine is going to be less money than an N55B30 that's for sure. Rebuilds can be expensive, but in reality you wouldn't bother spending 10K to rebuild a 2.7 engine when you can just find another good engine and stick it in. The likelihood of failure is...
