    Clio 172 rear disc change

Sorry yes I was being silly. I obviously didn’t put it on the discs and pads. But I do sometimes find it hard to know where grease should be applied, I remember there being long running and often fierce debates on LotusElan.net about how greasing bolt threads affects the torque settings. And...

    Clio 172 rear disc change

Cheers. All done. I put copper grease everywhere just to be sure. The pads should scrub the excess off the discs I would have thought. Need to find some other lockdown Clio jobs now.

    Clio 172 rear disc change

I’m doing my rear discs now, callipers and discs came off fine with the breaker bar. I've got the old spacer washers off and cleaned them up, along with the callipers with a wire brush drill attachment. My question is where should I be applying copper grease before putting the wheel...

Midlife crisis + understanding wife = New Toy

Welcome Cads, I think you've got a good'un there, it certainly looks like it's been well looked after. George up there ^ will sort you out with the parts you need. I'm not sure who the best supplier is for the auxiliary belt, but someone can recommend a decent specialist in Bedfordshire area I'm...

    172 Cup Restoration Progress

No, you can't sell it! It's looking great, I'm pretty much copying everything you've done to yours. I've ordered my rear discs and pads, exhaust has just been fitted and I'm replacing dampers and springs next. Already have a Snappy wheel, but I've just got some De-Solv-it sticky stuff remover...

What have you done to your car today ???

Same as yours! I'll post some pics and a video up if you are thinking of one. As they're custom made I imagine each one is different. They do offer a remap with the exhaust but I'm too tight to pay £500 or whatever for a dubious 4bhp...

What have you done to your car today ???

No, dead easy. Just pull the spring clips off the original ones, and push them off, just mind the hatch doesn't come down on your head when you do it (it's a lot heavier than it looks). Then clean up and grease the mount points and the new ones just push on. My hatch wasn't opening all the way...

What have you done to your car today ???

Finally got around to replacing the boot struts, they'd got to the point where they'd only hold the boot open if the car was facing downhill. Couldn't quite stomach the rip-off price for OE replacements, and I'm glad I didn't as these £13.95 jobbies seem much nicer quality than the originals...

    Bye bye Elf, hello castrol

I'm not sure if I'm happy about this. Not only will my OCD have to cope with an Elf sticker on the rear windscreen, and Castrol in the engine, but Castrol GTX just makes me think of Alan at a funeral...

What is it with 172 cup prices?

Well mine is on 69,500ish and had a full major service inc. gearbox and all belts at Rentech 3,000 miles ago, the day after I bought it. But, it would never get £3K as it needs the front and rear bumpers respraying (no cracks just scuffs), wheels refurbishing and the bonnet looks like an...

What is it with 172 cup prices?

That's good to know. I realise that there are better options out there than the Sachs, they were developed over 10 years ago after all, but they just nailed the set up for road driving so perfectly with the Trophy. I had an ITR afterwards that was better in many respects but it just didn't...

What is it with 172 cup prices?

I love my 172 Cup, I have owned it for 2 years now and I'm considering having the wheels refurbished and other cosmetic bits done as even though I bought it to be a fun trackday car, I don't want to sell it anytime soon. Although, I have to say, the only things about the Cup I prefer over the...

    PS3 driving game

I went there for my stag in 2009, I had a DC2 Integra at the time. I knew the layout quite well from practising on GT5, I even set up an Integra Type-R and took the power down to 187bhp and put on the realistic tyres so it would be comparable in corner entry speeds and grip etc. What the game...
