    The TJM Project

Since last years post, the only problem encountered last Autumn, was a small tickle from the ABS under very light braking, no ABS lights coming up, just the occasional tickle. It turned out to be a cracked ABS ring on front drivers side, Renaut will only sell the complete driveshaft at some big...

    Bump steer

Bump steer sounds least of your problems now! The rear shocks can also have some effect, I am not sure why, but have seen this posted before and must admit since I fitted new rear shocks, the bump steer is minimal now compared how it was before.

Engine Bay Painting - Best Method?

Vapour blasting gives a real nice finish and fetches off all the staining without removing much metal, close up below. (not clio parts though) As a comparison, in the second pic shows the difference between Soda and Vapour, the TB was soda blasted, soda does not leave any sort of abrasive...

Best tyres for Clio 182 road use?

Good info, my car is an early one, 53 plate -I believe one of the first registered, so perhaps the situation changed later, the mix makes sense to me anyway.

Best tyres for Clio 182 road use?

Although some will disagree, the first owner of my car told me that the car was supplied with that 87/83 set up with the PS2's, and he always kept that set-up, as do I albeit now on PS3's. And I do remember reading in either a review or press release that the 182 was fitted with stiffer...

Best tyres for Clio 182 road use?

For road i'd stick with Mich PS3, 87W on front and 83W in rear is what I use, handles perfect, think this was orig. manufacturer set-up (on the older PS2's)

    The TJM Project

Ah, finally got the car Taxed again 1 August, probably for a couple of months, so thought would update this thread, although nothing much ado at the moment. Went through MOT in March without any problem despite being stood for six months, and although not been out in it yet this year, it appears...

    Can’t enter stereo code?!?

If you or someone previous have entered the wrong code at some point, then the radio has a security feature, that will not allow code re-entry until a set period has passed, this time period starts small but increases with each bad attempt, up to a max of about 30 minutes, you need to leave the...

    Can’t enter stereo code?!?

There are two types of stock radios, 'Tuner List' and 'Update List', most 182s have the 'Tuner List, later ones may have the Update List, they are not compatible (thus you can't swap them), what have you?

    Colour combinations help?

Dark blue goes well with silver as long as silver is still dominant, maybe black would work too, not many colours compliment silver unless you want something garish. Don't know of any app. but you could try photoshop or similar.

    Clio 182 misfiring

Get yourself a simple OBDII fault reader -they're very cheap here in EU, one with Bluetooth to connect to an app on your smart phone (e.g. free Torque lite app) Very portable diagnostic, will read and clear most engine fault codes.

    Electrical issues Clio 182

Glad to see your making progress. Bought a new alternator last year from Renault, £189 think it may have been a remanufactured unit, but genuine OEM Valeo part. S/H or DIY refurb if you know how are alternatives, personally I don't think either are worth the risk. It's 110A and part nr...

    Electrical issues Clio 182

I presume that it is drawing a lot of current when ignition is off? Try disconnecting the alternator and see if still drawing same current. The heater problem is very common, do search on here plenty of info on this, wouldn't think it is related to your main problem though.
