Indeed, happened to my sister-in-law (for two speeding offences, on the same day), getting insurance afterwards was an expensive business as a new driver with six points!

Nothing wrong with having your folks pay for your first insurance, I know I did :) And as long as you're declaring your modifications and are fully insured that's good too, certainly for the first two years. The new driver act has made it a real issue if you do get caught without full insurance...

Will you be able to afford the insurance for a modified vehicle if your budget is so tight? Or is that not a question that's asked around here?
