Completely agree with you there. Cracking engines with lots of cheap tuning potential (~300bhp levels are dirty cheap relative to many others, though above that starts to add up a touch) but the V6 sounds infinitely nicer.
I almost bought a 172 shell to drop my spare 1.8t into last year -...
Don't I bloody know it too! (Old pic, evidently - appropriately just before fitting a new splitter to the grey one! House has been cleaned since too as it was long overdue...)
If folk could stop putting them on everything else and driving up the price that'd be great. I'll let you off since...
Great photos.
Front end is crying out for a small lip of some sort though. Something in black would balance well with the rear spoiler - carbon would be lovely, though a few scuffs would be expensive to sort vs plastic/etc.
Sadface. I know it'll be tucked away in the bay and largely unseen, but it's a real shame that events have led to it looking sorry for itself like that. Bit of an overnight soak in some white vinegar might help clean up the housing before it goes back on. Otherwise a light media (soda/walnut)...
Good stuff. The 3.2s do sounds lovely and with the manual box, ~250bhp of NA goodness is a lot of fun.
That said, a good whack more with a turbo is even more enjoyable, if you've a penchant for speed and a few grand burning a hole in your pocket ?
With our first on the way, I've been considering picking one of these up. Mrs R currently has a pd130 Golf but being a 3 door it's not really going to be ideal and these seem like a reasonable change. Not sure if I'd like a little more poke though .
They also did a 1.8t and I have a garage full...
I've not looked into veg oil running for a few years now, but seem to recall at the time lots of folk on the various VAG forums recommending used stuff. I can't remember if there was actually any real benefit other than it being free, but common sense says being a little thinner would help too...
I'm afraid I don't recognise your hands lie Dan but from the context you're a trials rider (or at least were). Funnily enough, I'm just building up a bike again!
Brutal seeing the state of the car after that crash, glad everyone's ok afterwards :yum:
