Did you ever solve your reverse gear selection .... I'm having the same issue .... all gears are forward ... and yes lifting the colar allows the gear lever to move left and forwards as for reverse but seems to find first ???

I have a somewhat similar "will not start" problem with my clio 182 from 2005. The pointers above have been tried to no benefit :( perhaps you have some more ideas....
The story in short:-
1. A week ago I had a clio 182 that ran fine and started first turn of key.... but I had been...
Then... yes ... need an alignment tool ..... If going from underneath with gearbox still in engine bay ..... I would not be able to see the alignment (perhaps with a mirror... then how would a laser alignment work..... ??

Well for completeness ... in case someone comes back to this thread .... The car if fixed for the price of an inlet manifold gasket !!! seems there was a small leak, that was enough to confuse the electronics at tick-over with no load ...... IF you have the same problem it's a lot cheaper to...

wish it was that easy for mine ..... checked new and old injectors ... all showing 15+/-0.5 ohms

wiring is mostly heavily protected under plastic conduit ..... nothing obvious but I will look again more closely
crankshaft sensor... hmmm well it starts first time every time and runs very well ...... so seems a very very long shot to me ... but again...
