OEM Headunit retrofit - cannot enter code

Hi - sorry for the multiple threads on this topic but I've performed this before several years ago without issue but this time I'm having issues.

I have a new to me 182 and have bought from Ebay a headunit which I think is compatible. My car had a storage box under the passenger seat which Is where I think an optional multidisc CD change option is stored perhaps?

I have a yellow plug which I thought was steering wheel controls and carries the signal to the dash clock area.

When I power it up the head unit switches on ok, and when I press a button I get a beep. However I don't seem to be able to get asked for a code.

I thought this was the wrong head unit for the car and have been looking for another plug but I think it is all plugged in correctly.

I can see the loom has been cut and repaired at some time so I might check there next but wondered if I'm missing anything?

Help very welcome.

Hi all - I'm bouncing this as I have bought another unit from Ebay thinking the one I bought was not correct for the car. The new unit when plugged in comes to life. I don't get the enter code option. When I press buttons I hear a loud beep coming through the stereo. Essentially the exact same as the last unit.

I've checked the loom where it's been cut and repaired. The bullet connectors are all tight and the wires are all coloured correctly.

I'm unsure if the yellow steering wheel connector is undamaged at the stalk end. This is the only thing I can think? However I'm assuming codes could be entered without the stalk?

I have a new sabelt wheel coming soon so could take off the squib to check anything there but I'm really welcoming any other suggestions.

Have you tried an Update List headunit? Early 182’s still used Tuner List and at some, seemingly unknown, point they changed over.

Hi - this unit is a tuner list. The first one was an auditorium or something.

My car is a 2005 model. I can try another maybe. My car didn't come with a CD autochanger (I think) so I could try a more basic head unit but I'm guessing here.

I have a spare update tuner list which I recently took out my 182. I lost the stickers unfortunately when I de-gunked the fascia. Works perfectly. Open to offers.

Note* If you want to keep the stickers from yours, the fascia’s are easily swapped.

Thanks - I bought one with the part number above from renbreakers from Ebay. Otherwise I would be interested.
