The 90's best car decade!

Mine was genuine dyno'd (several times different rollers) always made over 195 constistanly but that needed a lot of work.

Mine had, 195 chip, 701 injectors, hybrid t2 turbo, pace intercooler and rad, 285t2 piper cam modified airbox samco hoses, upgraded breather.
Koni suspension. Scorpion 3" and Bailey piston dump valve(essential back the in 🤣) would hold 19psi.

Was a proper missile back in the day! everyone knew the car it was so quick weighed about 950kg I reckon.

Chap I bought it of swopped it for cossie he said it was s**t slow compared to the fiesta.

He ended up going over 330bhp in it to make it feel quick.

I lost count of how many Escort RS turbos etc I used to make look stupid they would say they were running a supposed "200-250🙄" plus power with just a stage 1 chip or bleed valve they were actually about 160 if they were lucky🤣
Talking of tuning etc, Grove Garage was fairly local to me (but I didn't know it was that place at the time) I was walking down the road one Saturday afternoon, saw the gates to a random car garage place were open so I looked in and saw the whale tails of about twenty Escort Cosworth's in there. I was like, wtf is this place?? I later found out that it was Grove Garage and late Ford tuning legend Ahmed Bayjoo had been part of it.

a friends mum had one as her daily runabout (she was a proper milf). This would have been in the late 80's.

She got it as part of a divorce settlement. They had money but weren't mega rich, she just saw it as a bit of a sporty car.

And yes in the end it got stolen and was never seen again.

We had a few fast Ford's stolen including a Moonstone Cosworth 3dr - Huddersfield was a bit of a target town in the 80's for the Manchester / Oldham car thieves.

That's one of the reasons hot hatches where so cheap in those days due to the massive insurance hikes -

hers was taken from Meadowhall, not a surprise really.

I had a 5 GT Turbo back in the mid 90's. I remember my brother borrowing it for the day, and when he came back he said he'd been to Meadowhall, I wasn't happy.

I leant a mate one who lived in St John's Wood in London at the time - only had it a few days before it got stolen and ended up in a police chase.

Had to borrow a trailer to go and retrieve it from a compound in central London which was no fun especially when I didn't have any towing experience in rush hour.

This is my favourite era touring cars very closely followed by the super touring cars. I just love the simplicity of your average saloon car slammed on some 18” magnesium wheels.

Loved the 90s era JDM cars. I was lucky enough to own some of the ones I really wanted. Dc2 Integra Type R, Mazda Rx7, Subaru Impreza.

Came close to buying both a Starlet GT Turbo and a Supra on separate occasions. Wish I went for a Supra. Also almost got an S14 at one stage as well.

I came close to buying an S14a and a Classic Impreza back in the day.

Remember a local garage having an R32 GTR around 2009, sat in it, started it up, sounded great.

Seemed a bit pricey at the time for somewhere around 7-8k 😂

My opportunities were a Golf Rallye, E30 BMW 320is and an FD rx7, all 3 were around £6k in the early to mid 00’s but I was poor and stupid with money, now I look at them in the classifieds and just cry 😭

Absolutely! I remember s13’s and s14’s being really cheap. But I too was poor and crap with money, ploughing wages into newish cars on finance instead.

If only we knew then what we know now eh? I've probly lost 40k plus selling my old fords as opposed to what they would be worth now🙄

Thankfully I never owned anything that would now be worth more, well maybe my old S2000s but I’m not too upset about those. Honest.

But everything else I remember from mid 2000s, ‘cheap’ (relatively speaking) Escort Cosworths, R34 GTR, numerous Imprezas, Evo TM, arghghg 😂😂

I turned down an RS500 cosworth on 34 k miles for 12 grand back in the day as insurance was 25k!! 😢
