CS@25 The First Meet - Southend Seafront - 8pm, January 27th, 2001

I was down there in 2002 in my mates 106 gti. As we approached the casino end I saw a load of silver 172's and a Cliosport banner, so I wrote the website down and decided to check it out.
I knew what a 1.8 16v was so I decided to look into one and signed up to CS (I had really wanted a 90 spec Escort RS Turbo, or a Fiesta RS Turbo but the ones I saw were all knackered)
I got the 'valver' and loved it, my dad thought it was pretty good too (he liked the wide arches and bonnet vent!) but the phase 2 172 had recently come out, so he got one that was a few months old. Due to life things, that car is now mine and I will never sell it.

IIRC they used to meet at the Strawberry Fields pub carpark next to the big Tesco superstore before cruising down to the seafront. I had a black J plate Valver lowered on 17" Venoms

Great post this. Just shows you how much the quality of cameras and photos have come on in the last 25 years too!

With several of the founding members based in the South East, the first ClioSport meet was held on the seafront at Southend-on-Sea on Saturday 27th January 2001, at 8pm.

Most of the vehicles attending on a very cold evening were Clio 16v's and the recently released 172's.

The days before Superdry

I took Stanners down to Southend a couple of weeks ago on a Saturday evening. It’s safe to say that the car scene is still alive and kicking. It was absolutely mobbed down there. Stan loved it.
