To round this thread off:
This was the car when I bought it, all ratty with a 200bhp K series in it.
Then after many thousands of pounds and many hundreds of hours, it came to this. 300bhp, skinny tyres, new body and a whole lot of fun.
Now I just got this update from its new owner...
My mates died due to its wiring loom.
He paid £7995 for it, it was black just like yours.
In the year he had it he spent £4200 at Alfa specialists. New engine loom, full sensor kit, ECU etc etc.
Traded it in for £4500 still not working.
I spent hours working on that thing!
Still I'd have...
Sit rep:
Car survived just fine. Only taken 0.8mm off the PS4’s in 84 laps!!
It needs 100bhp more to be interesting, at the moment even with road tyres, it’s break, turn, full throttle, turn more, go round corner with no drama. There’s no fun in that!
M1166 pads just never stop giving...
It’s f**king awesome.
So so so slow but awesome at maintaining corner speed.
1:32 on Donny National with road tyres and 150bhp isn’t to be sniffed at!
I think, after using it now, it needs a 2.5 conversion with around 230bhp and it’ll be perfect.
@JB21 I had the GY's on for 41k(!!!) on my 335d. Thats how long they lasted.
Lovely tyres and the quietest I've ever used.
For quicker driving the PS4 is ahead though.
I've just ordered some for the MX5. If you are quick, blackcircles.com have 10% all Mitchelin tyres for the next 9 hours...
The M62 is good enough to send Rodney out of the block. It'll do for me.
I could hang £3k worth of TVS off the side, get someone to fab me up an intake manifold for another 1k, and spend hours stratching my head on where the hell the belt would go and still bend the rods with slightly colder...
Its more the limitations with the current set up, doing it in stages just isn't cost effective.
These 2.0 units can happily take nearly 1 bar before going bang, so thats what I'm going to feed it. Then I have to deal with the fact 1 bar out of an M62 on a 2.0 will give me an outlet temp of...
Just ordered a tiny pulley for the supercharger. Its going to be operating right at the limit of its operational window...
Need to come up with a good heat management technique. May go down the water injection route so I can actually use it on track....
