Not always helpful when they say it’s remote. I’ve had one where I sent my CV off as it was remote and looked decent but then when I got speaking to the recruiter it was office based in London and he said “oh I always say remote to get more interest”. No thanks.
What are people’s opinions on ceramic shampoo? I’ve used AMDetails Hybrid Shampoo in the past but I have seen GTechniq W3 Ceramic Wash but that is a bit pricy. The Z3 has a ceramic wax on and my E34 has Gtechniq EXO and CSL coating. After washing for the Z3 I use some normal sealant and the E34...
I did chose home plan but that was with another provider and not Starlink. I’ll double check though.
I’ve just ran a speed test on my phone and it’s giving 32.6Mbps which is ok? Doesn’t say what the upload speed is, I know it’s not perfect as when I upload pictures on here it takes forever and...
Hmm I might have to go and work out how much data a month I use.
I don’t do gaming so the slow ping isn’t a problem with satellite.
It’s annoying as the main part of the village has actual broadband but I’m about a mile away and it doesn’t. We have managed as it is for a year but with WFH...
It’s about £500 for the equipment and then the package I was looking at about £75 a month but that was for 65Gb data a month. Which I have no idea will be enough. The next deal up was £125 a month.
I don’t mind paying if it will do the job.
Wait, what?! What is that mifi box?! That looks...
I don’t have broadband at home and still using an ADSL connection, because rural life. While the speed is ok and I can stream films, join Teams calls for work and use my VM do do work (the virtual desktop is pretty much a no go though) it is the reliability which is the worst and makes it...
Thank you, it’s been enjoyable and annoying at times but I do have long term plans for it and progress has slowed due to life.
It is a dash out job unfortunately. However I just masked up as best as I could and painted in situ and then when the dash ever comes out I’ll do it properly.
Spent some time on the Clio this morning while it was sunny.
Took the wheels off to work out what I am going to do with the arch liners. Have a plan now so just need to order some of the plug fixings. Going to run the curved part and the front sections I’ll cut off the bit that attaches to the...
Maybe this is where I have gone wrong recently as I’ve sent a few CVs to adverts on LinkedIn and got nothing back. But I’ve got pretty much a “basic” CV as I don’t have the corporate grovelling in it, just saying what I’ve done with no extra crap. It’s so easy to spot the rubbish people make up...
I am going to say no, but that is based on having to move a load of pins in the ECU plug when I swapped my Ph1 ECU to a GEN90. If it were a Ph2 it was a direct swap with no need to move pins around.
It does have 32’s. No idea why I said 21, I blame too early in the morning.
I’m glad I went for 17” and not 18/19” as it still retains some side wall for period look and comfort.
I sacked these off ASAP for Style 21’s for my E34. Still have the one as a spare but useless if I need it on the front as it won’t fit over my brakes now.
Hindsight says I should have kept them due to value of original parts but I had no space to store them!
Yeah I wouldn’t be taking the sill covers off if you are selling.
Can’t be rusty if you don’t look for it
Taking the door cards off though is sensible as I wouldn’t have bought mine if I didn’t check - I ended up putting some kurust down there and painting to kill any little bit of rust (I...
Sorted this all out after a bit of a rethink.
As the existing grommet is quite long the radiator fan wires are well protected even if I remove the grommet, ie have it not seated in the hole. Then fed the 2 battery wires through and used a cut up piece of fuel hose cable tied around the cables...
Currenlty have my fan controller wires going through that one - but I have managed to put them through the original hole in the grommet (which was a right mission putting two wires in!) and there is no room for two 16awg wires in it as well! If I can find something that will work as a grommet so...
The only tech thing I’ve wanted to do is make a data logging thing for track days out of a Raspberry Pi. So GPS and accelerometer kind of thing then improve my python script I currently use.
My parents have never understood any of my jobs. First was a “Radiographic Hydrodynamics Physicist” and now I’m a “Software Engineer”. Annoys my brother as he is a design engineer and does actual engineering and doesn’t think I am a proper engineer. But the at home tech has skipped me, I don’t...
Yeah a Ph1 172. I’ll go and try find that at some point this week. I really don’t want to be drilling holes so this would be good if there is another one to the bonnet release one.
I want to run a battery isolator on the dash board so need to run some wires from the engine bay to the inside. I’m already using the hole by the bonnet release for my external radiator fan switch (which appears to be the first place most suggest plus I don’t think it’s big enough).
Before I...
Was a good morning out on track, hope I didn’t get in too many people’s way!
Had to leave at lunch as have friends coming over soon for dinner. Next year I’ll plan to be there all day and for the evening.
