    French car normality.

Just a quick picture from the weekend. Comes as no surprise that one of them's got the bonnet up. The 172 started on the first turn of the key as well. Surprised me a lot. It's only run for 5 minutes since August and hasn't moved at all in that time. I'm pretty sure the next time it'll come...

Temperature needle not sitting in the middle. Does this affect performance?

Managed to only loose about 2l changing mine this morning. It's all a bit cramped on the 197 but I got there eventually. Glad I checked online though, there's two bleed points on the system instead of the mk2's one! The 182 stat seems fine in it.

Temperature needle not sitting in the middle. Does this affect performance?

Doing mine in the morning. I was shocked at how cheap the type D coolant was.

Think my timing is out, any Renaultsport friendly garages in/near West Sussex?

Pop along and see Mike @ Rentech in Portsmouth.

    Frozen rear brakes (197)

SO i don't use the handbrake anymore, but I leave it in gear instead. This morning it had snowed, so i started the car, but obviously this necessetated taking the car out of gear and applying the handbrake...FAIL. In the time i took to remove the snow from the front 3 windows (2 mins?) the...

    iPhone 4 (16gb) value?

It was advertised on here but a colleague said he'd have it in the end. I'm all for an easy life.

    iPhone 4 (16gb) value?

I've just sold my pretty much perfect 4 for £170. I would've got a few quid more on ebay, but i'd rather not have the hassle.

Temperature needle not sitting in the middle. Does this affect performance?

If it's a 197, put a 182 thermostat in it (apparently). I'm doing that this weekend. Andy, are you about?

    Frozen rear brakes (197)

Luckily the cable had come away from the back of the lever!

Bloody hell. I've not even owned the sodding thing a week yet.

    Frozen rear brakes (197)

Dan, if you are suggesting it's seized then should it free itself up as it gets warmer? I've taken the car out twice now and it's still not right.

    Frozen rear brakes (197)

#shouldakeptthebmw I need to check it's operating both sides. I suspect not, which would be why the lever dents the roof now. I guess it's whether the cable has come loose, stretched or clean snapped. It'll be dark when i'm home but i'll take a look with a torch. That'll be fun. Chris, they do...

    Frozen rear brakes (197)

Clio197.net owners advising me to carry out a yearly strip down and rebuild of brakes and also not to use the handbrake when parking. LOL. I don't think the suggestion of 'the rear brakes aren't fit for purpose' went down well.

    Frozen rear brakes (197)

Handbrake still isn't working properly when i popped out for lunch (have to pull the lever on a lot to get it to bite). I guess it snapped a cable.

    Frozen rear brakes (197)

I tried to drive off, but I couldn't get it to the top of our driveway to the flat bit. Bad times! I'm going to check it at lunch, I suspect that if the handbrake lever is still loose then i've snapped a cable - though i'm not sure how!

    Frozen rear brakes (197)

I think i'm going to leave it off in future and leave the car in gear. I just wondered if the handbrake lever will return to normal when its all got a bit warmer, or if i'd broken something?

    Frozen rear brakes (197)

    Yeah. What an idiot!

    Frozen rear brakes (197)

I couldn't get the rear brakes to release this morning (yes I'd left the handbrake on...). The handbrake released, or the lever went down, but nothing moved. 2 jugs of warm water later I was away. The handbrake lever is now really loose, the handbrake works, but only right at the top of the...

    iPhone 5.

I've had mine 3 days now and it's sat there waiting for my number to transfer over. I'm away this weekend, so i've got to look like a right geek carrying the 4 and the 5 around. Sods law it'll transfer across Monday when i'm home.

    197 Buying Dilemma

If price isn't an issue I'd pay an extra £500 and get a 200. Out of those two though I'd go for the lower mileage example, but i do like them both.

    Another dephaser issue ( I think )

Cheaper just to drop a secondhand engine in it rather than fixing the old one.

want to get timming belt kit and dephaser done.

That's what ive got. Gen pulley locking tool and a Laser horseshoe.

    ABS delete ideas

I run with the ABS pump unplugged on mine at the moment (got the stop, ABS, handbrake and Serv light on). Fronts lock up before the rears and it was great on a recent trackday. It's a PH1 though if that makes any difference. Plan to fit a switch so i can turn it on and off in the near future.
