thanks for that, a lot of the team here don't want to move to 2010 as it's too young, but i can't help but feel there are a considerable number of advanatges. Atm we have a dedictaed iscsi san for exchange but we're migrating from 2003 to 2007, just in my mind we should be skipping 2007 entirely!

definitely throw down a few k on an imac, it'll be totally worth it. especially since you aren't gaming. it'll look awesome and you can play all your music and videos on it to your hearts content.

you have any links on info for this? i thought 2007 would run on anything, we're going to run it in sata storage so this knowledge would be helpful.

ram is worth it the cpu isn't. i7 ftw though. if u want performance increase on of my biggest was running a ssd for the os

also...even if you don't like the new hardware/price, 3gs will be all over ebay come the announcment!! i have a 9700 love it too, i have an iphone aswell, the only thing i will say, is that iphone battery is s**t. you'll have it on charge a lot compared with the 9700 which i charge like once...

to answer your question. no i tried it with a colleague and it still judders with 1080p content. to resolve he bought a wdtv live and hooks a 1.5tb ntfs drive up to that. works fine for mkv's although any converted files with dts encoding for the ps3 no longer function so he had to redownload...

Playing it on 360 (mates) is really good for solo fun. Marine campaign is a bit jumpy as you're in the dark a fair bit and graphics are great.

wdtv live supports mkv :/
