Sounds daft, but have you squished the back up and down? I had a rear shock go on 29k on one of mine. Handling felt just like that, and no oil or anything could be seen/ felt, shock looked fine when i took it off. It was almost empty though, so god knows where it had gone.

Ive found halfords the best place for plain plates. The info is on in a hologram style, so its there but not very visible.

That looks fanbloodytastic mate! Maybe not the direction you want to go in, but if that were mine id be looking towards removing carpet/ doorcards, getting hold of some proper cup racer doorcards, manual wing mirrors, painting rest of interior to match rear, and caging it.
