i didnt really bother, just cleaned it all up and wire brushed some of the stuborn dirt!!
like i said, i wasnt going for an amazing job, just wanted to make the inside look abit more fresh rather than the stained miss matched coloured stuff!!
haha im trying to work on one thing at a time!! not really touched the doors yet!!
Dave heres a few pics of the seat mounts. Looking back now, i would sooner buy the cobra Xlow subframes than do this!! it was a ballache to say the least!!
and my harness bar, no idea where its from...
haha sorry dude, i was thinking of your old clio16valver username!!
youre missing out on the job you so wanted to do the other day!! rip the dash out!! :D
Re: The Confused Budget Track Clio!
good update!! was trying to post on this last night but trying to load the pictures kept making my internet have a b!tch fit!! lol
ill have to come and have a look at the cage at some point!!
haha im trying to make her as light as possible mark, but i think holes in the floor are a little be too much!! especially when the rains come!!
also i meant thanks to clio_squeak for the help!! got names wrong!!
Dave if i see the guy anytime soon ill quiz him as to where he got the bar from...
Ive seen this before! I remember the 'road ahead closed' sign lol epic!
It was awkward doing the seats due to the covexity of the floor but ill take a pic of it but it is a messy from grinding the seat rails flush lol.
As for the harness bar I dont know where it came from! It was in my mates...

Been getting bits done on the clio over the last few days, everythings been going rather smoothly!!
Seat fitting
This was the first job i wanted to do obviously so that the car car was a bit more mobile. I wanted to copy Jon.G's track thread and bolt the seat directly to the floor...
well ill wait till you change it before stealing your idea!! :D
quick question, before you took the engine out, how did you secure the rad from flopping about?? im also running aerocatches and no cross member so it kind of just rocks back and forth atm!!
just because their in business doesnt mean anything, nor does driver feedback.
only way of working out for sure is wind tunnel research. just because they have a lot of money and a time attack team, doesnt mean they have the first clue about fluid dynamics!!
lets face it, if it DID work, then...
this will only happen if the cat is very very hot, and even then the amount of fuel potentially dumped into the exhaust will be incredibly minimal.
long term misfires will obviously destroy cats, but i dont think occasionally bump starting will do any harm what so ever.
obviously nobody can really comment on exactly what is happening from an aerodynamic point of view,
but surely this is going to add a hell of a lot of drag and will make the air hitting the rear spoiler a lot more turbulent based on the bernoullis theorem.
it will obviously increase front end...
next thing i would try personally, would be to unplug both the light clusters and test, if it stops then it implies theres a short in the light cluster plug, narrow it down to which one and replace.
i say this because there is a very common problem with the clios that the rear light cluster...
I was uming and arring about a black front pannel on my ph1 tit, i think this has officially made my mind up, it looks epic imo.
great project, will look forward to updates!!
your op says the clocks counting down in seconds,
video shows it counting up?!
have you tried holding down the hour button and see if they count up at the same speed? if so, the button is stuck on internally and it needs a new unit.
wait till it plays up again.
open the bonnet, wiggle the small wire going onto the start motor, and try to start it again.
my mates 172 did this constantly when he first got it, i think in the end we took the connecter out and cleaned it all up. Its been fine ever since
Ok, im bumping this thread as im not back from uni and plan to get on with the work!! im here for 3 weeks and in that time i plan to do the following!!
Fit front seats (already done the drivers side but it may still need some adjustment)
fit harness bar
fit rollcage mounting plates in prep for...
if theyre eibach then most likely 35mm-40mm. iirc theyre the most common springs they do for the clio,
however springs NEVER lower what they do on the box so tbh, you might as well stop caring exactly how much it is lowered by!!
OR you could just measure the height from the arch to the floor...
Re: The Confused Budget Track Clio!
damn you dan!! youve pretty much rendered my project as a halfbuild bodge job!! :(
and i think im coming home a bit early!! asin tuesday so ill be back to work at mine!! and are you talking about the secret purchase you told me about??
projects looking...
Re: The Confused Budget Track Clio!
tbh, i dont think there are really many bit that you can do on the F4R engine!! the block, inlet, box, subframe, shafts, rack etc ill simply paint, and my alternator brackets are already powder coated!!
cant wait to see the engine in the flesh!! looks really...
as if people are paying £70 for wheels that bend??
you can get OMP wheels for that!! or if youre feeling cheap, get an RMD wheel, ive used one of those and they do the job just as well as omp, suedes slightly low quality but they dont bend!! lol
new interior loom, clocks and indicator stalk!! could fix it yourself for under £100. however it wont be the easiest job in the world!! the entire dash would have to come out!!
sucks to hear that this kind of thing happens tbh, the fuses should stop anything getting to dangerous points!!
