I didnt really expect to see this sort of level of intelligence from an owner of a CTR. My only conclusion is that you have upgraded to early from a Saxo VTR!
JAS for god sakes lock this thread and ban this moron!
Swelch the limiter is a huge factor to consider when taking a pop at someone. I raced my mate in his chipped Cupra when i had only had the car running for ten mins or so, he pulled away steadily, I knew it would happen and warned him as much. About 10 mins later I said we should go again, this...
Jeremy,
Is it not technically against the terms of your warrenty to take part in any trtack day event, whats stopping Renault taking a note of number plates and refusing any warrenty work in the future, I know that goes on!
Just a bit strange that Renault would be organising a day like that...
Carlos, I dunno about you but experiences with the MK1 GTis, but mine have been down right scary, a lot of body roll and not as much grip as I would have thought! I can however see how they were revolutionary in there time!
No no, listen I dont think the Clio is any better than the CTR, or vice versa. This thread seemed to spiral out of control when Bullit came on showing that he had the IQ of a deaf&dumb chimp, from there on it was more about him than the Civic, i think!
:D
Im saying that the Honda-R board seems to have a better standard of posters, I was talking about http://www.civictype-r.co.ukwww.civictype-r.co.uk.
There was a post a couple of weeks back that made me chuckle regarding the Cup, I think. I just left them to it!
In my expereince the 172 and the CTR are very closely matched in terms of performance, again its all down to the driver and how quickly he can change gear! Now I havent had my car on the rollers but telford_mike has had 159BHP@wheels (admittedly modded but im not convinced the mods have done...

Is this the same thing, if so where did you get them from?
Being young I dont give a monkeys about a solid feel, or whether the car will still be running in 3 years, coz I wont have the car in three years time. Ill move the game on one for my next car, Im tentatively looking at the new WRX, very fast off the mark and easily tuneable, oh and 4WD! Still...
Mate wake up, I wouldnt have to force you into a field mate your understeer and lack of traction will do that for you.
You say you can beat a Cossie, the stats, Ill guarantee you are looking at, are the manufacturers claims for the cossie. The stats you will be looking at for the CTR will...
It does not outpace standard escort cossies! Youre going by stats, and the stats you will be comparing it against are the manufacturers claims vs mag times for the CTR, give the Cossie a 5K start and dump the clutch and the CTR wouldnt know which way it went!
As far as implying that the CTR...
BenR
I have that test around Castle Combe handy for this sort of occasion!:D
The reason that these mags dont use the 172 anymore because, like the CTR, it has been vastly over exposed in the motoring press. There was a time when you couldnt pick up a mag and not see a test of a 172...
Firstly I dont think the CTR is a breadvan, I think it is a decent FWD hatch. A future hot-hatch classic, nah! Since when has a proper hot-hatch been about build quality or whether or not its sought after?? To me its about driver appeal, ie handling, pace, cornering abilities.
Another...
Id hope it was a turbo Scott. Hell have more low down torque, so technically he accelerated first, so I would have thought there would have been no way you should have caught him, the down change to fourth would have lot you time also! I cant say Im surprised it pulled away from you though...
