oh yes - cleared this off a customers PC last week - stuborn little bugger it is. I'll try and find the stuff I used to remove it - get ready for the long haul!

Although I've tested throughput on these devices and I'll eat my own arse if you ever get near 200Mbs!!
20-30Mbs in the real world - still better than wireless.
You could always get youself a new wireless N Router and wireless N card for your PC - but if i was in your shoes I'd buy a couple of Homeplugs for about £40 - much better that wireless.

If your theory is sound why download a AV product, install it, run it then remove it?
Just install a good AV product that you can easily disable when you need full throttle from your PC?
I look after 20+ Business Networks all with secuirty applicances scanning traffic...
Split tunnel them, also with their website's loading issue - Can you repeat the slowness on their pc? maybe it's just a browser issue? try chrome or something for comparison?

Chances are your firewall is blocking inbound traffic only, so if you do get a virus/trojan that sneaks in through a file/email/website you'll never know it's there and sending outbound information. Modern virus's are silent and hidden not like the old school stuff or...

I've got a script that deletes all files and folders in a folder that are older than 14 days. However I'm sure it used to work but it's stopped working.

Is it slow when you right-click the files?
What happens when you go to office app and open the documents from within that?
I've had this kind of problem before due to inactive network drive references in the registry.
