Yeah I will be getting a Maxogen kit if I still have the car mate!!
Smoking - I am telling it like it is dude - My engine likes open kits.
Exhaust is bloody loud mate - Pops when I change gear and stuff - love it!!
What do you guys think of mk1/2 Golf GTIs compared to the Clio Valvers - I am going to be getting an old skool soon - Up too 2k and a Bike - Was thinking of going for an old Golf rather than Clio!! Opinions?
LMFAO!!
Mine was registered on 29th April 2001 - So they def. made mk1s then - But that was the last - I also had a mk2 exhaust system on mine (2 lamda sensors)
It is a hand made job mate - I chose style etc - they built it

That was just a vid half way through building it - Then I got a 3" bore pipe made from the manifold back, no cat and no baffles!!
This was my new backbox with just the backbox so you can imagine how loud it is now with no cat or baffles or anything

Make sure you check the gearboxes for rattles in the mk1s some of them have been badly abused - suppose it is the same for mk2s though - And loony is correct you get good and bad engines
Mk1 you can cruise at 90 just below 4k - You can also do 70 in 2nd gear.
Would not advise you to buy a 172 with more than 40-45k on the clock though
Also if you get a late mk1 alot of the parts are mk2 parts
You need to drive both matey - It is not just about the straight line speed with these cars.
I find the handling much better on the mk1 172s and it does feel quicker - Basically just a lighter car with slightly diff cat setup.
I went from a 172 Cup to a mk1 172 and my current mk1 is more fun...
