Right switches can either be very very easy or very complicated to setup depending on what you want to do with them.
Personally i would go with a cisco one as i know how to set them up.

Not 100% sure but i would guess that you would require an ecu from a car without a rain sensor, i doubt a new stalk would fix it

Make sure the cambelt has been changed on the 182, if not book it in sharpish a trader on here is reccomended but others can do it.

Electrical contact cleaner on the connectors, use a small screwdriver too push the pins closer together, that should fix it, hopefully!!
Edit: You could clean up the pins with a small wire brush
Just swap one of the modules from the other laptop so you just have one in your laptop.
I doubt it is anything to do with the cable being missing as my old laptop only had one wire once i was finished with it! unless of course it is shorting something out inside.
