Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He
Sorry I am on with it as we speak :) It's a bloody long one and I'm only at qualifying lol! Prepare to be bored ;)
I guess it will be the bearing then, Had a front bearing go on the 197 but that was due to kerb abuse on circuit. Maybe something is catching, see if you can replicate it by spinning the wheel when jacked up :) Hope you get sorted
Had it on my R27 got some gravel stuck in the pad, I would jack up and check the bearings and then strip out the pads to inspect/clean up. Make sure you use locktite on the calliper bolts when you put them back in because a garage didn't on mine when they changed the pads and the bloody calliper...
Good stuff Pete :) Best way to sort that issue out I think and will straighten it up nicely! Hopefully it's not bent the hinge mount on the a pillar! Good news about the electronics and I'm sure Mick will get you sorted out pronto!
Yes they have always been at the correct torque as it's been checked numerous times by mine and various wrenches at TDF, I think I will send mine off to be calibrated again as need to make sure it's accurate :)
Yeah the back end was jumping around and been given a fairly hard time for 40 mins...
That's what we used and when I inspected them last night they use SNR bearings which I think are OE so should of been fine! I am just about to order a set of Genuine renault ones and hope they last a bit longer :)
Managed to get it all sorted a few hours ago :) Both are now off and the bearing on one of them was completely shattered apart :( I used the wheel studs turned the other way round and screwed them in which pushed the disc away from the stub axle. Took a lot of fiddling but got there in the end...
Yeah I think so :) I think that kind of puller will just break or crack the disc's as they really are seized on :( I will report back with how I get on!
Thanks for that Dan :) I really am clueless but how would that work as it seems like it would just push the puller away when you screw the bolt in :o sorry if i'm being dense lol
This a big enough hammer mate
:rasp:
Yeah I thought that myself but from what I can see I can't get the stub axle's off without removing the disc :( I am a total mechanical noob lol, what is a slide hammer lol ;)
I don't have an angle grinder :(
No surprisingly not, the car was setup mega...
After the race at Brands last Monday I noticed the paint had bubbled on the rear wheels which I thought was odd! It turns out the heat which caused it to happen was from the bearings getting really hot and after checking them today they are absolutely f**ked. I have undone both rear hub nuts but...
Great write up Pete :) The novice briefing was so different to what I expected! Was a great day and was nice to have a play with your car at various times :) As said on the day your lap times are really good and just such a shame about the bloody limp mode! I hope you get it sorted quickly and...
Great write up Mark and massive congratulations for the race result :) What was your reason for going to a softer pad on the brakes in the first place? I was going to do the same because in the damp they are just too snatchy and lock up. What a legend Fred is for coming down and doing that :)...
Re: James/BigAsh 182 Race Car by TDF... It doesn't get much better than this! *Pic He
I know sorry :( I am just moving houses so that's taken a lot longer than I expected and now got problems with that lol!
I can't seem to now open the video in the editor so I have uploaded it in full onto...
I wish I could but just not feasible unfortunately especially because I have got a trackday the day before in Anglesey lol! Will be good to see you too Mike I won't be as busy this time so should be good :)
Great write up :) the pace from Jordan was crazy, he flew past like I was stood still as you say even without a bumper lol! Can't wait to see how you get on at Silverstone I might now be able to come down and watch/ help out if you need it as my diary has free'd up! I look forward to seeing the...
Can't see the vid's as on my phone but will have a watch when I get on the pc, hopefully will have mine up tonight! PS I know what you mean about locking diff, my defender used to have one and anything over 15mph it just use to not want to turn! Great for getting me out of sticky situations...
I know it looked really severe, I was going to put the recaro back in for the next race because of the lack of visibility from the sabelt but after seeing that video I think I might just put up with the sabelt :)
Nothing to apologise for mate just felt I should add my opinion/ point of view :)!
