Had a poke around and decided to make some deflectors, hopefully a lot nicer/better than CDT-style bits of bent alloy plate... I figure having lots of air going to the general area of the brakes can't be a bad thing, even if it's not specifically at the rotor, especially as the volume will be...
Re: cars ruined me for the next few months!
Hmm, if they 'don't have a clue' then I would go somewhere else dude! Rear pads do sound like they should be dodo-encrusted at that price too!
Hi guys,
Currently messing around with fitting some brake ducts to my 172 Cup. Got arch liners out and carbon canister removed so a bit more space to play with.
My original plan was to run a 2" silicone hose from a custom made inlet where the fog lights were, strapping it to the lower wishbone...
Get amongst it :rasp:

Yeah I had a similar choice... I'm impatient and not handy with welding kit so that sorted the decision out for me! lol
Think Mark had 2 left in stock (both black) when I got mine 2 weeks ago...
Ah cool - well it seems pretty decent. Had a few small alignment issues at the start (mainly down to the order I was doing stuff I think - it's my first go at a cage) but it's gone in really well now, no major modifications, no extending B-pillar hoop, towers were pretty close to the right shape...
It came to £810, from Mark Fish (probably about to tell me you could have supplied one about half the price that's twice as good? haha)
Cheers man! It was... Tyre Traders: http://www.tyretraders.com/tyreInformation.aspx?ItemID=FED19550ZR1582W595RS-R - website is toss and they wouldn't let me...
Thanks dude. Always like to get stuck in making bits, tis good fun :D
Done a bit more work over the last week or so...
Still to do:
- Tweak brake ducts (hoses a bit short at the mo, gonna make up some plates/tubes that sit right near the rotors to give the hoses a bit more effective...
That's the Golden Ball at Snatchems...! Fellow Morecambe lad here :)
Car looks good too, always loved that colour on Saxos!
What stuff have you done to it? Can obviously see the cage, new wheels, must be some coilies too?
Couple of updates...
Been prepping for cage - Safety Devices 6 point bolt in - just needs a bit more paint out around the towers, then ready for welding... Hammering the arches flat was scary, haha. Then the mammoth task of sanding and spraying the interior :(
Got wheels (15" Superturismos...
And I should have realised that wasn't a 172/182 in the photos :o (Seems you are after the same pics as me.) Too busy looking at the bloody dash, haha!
Sorry for the bump, but was just searching through for brake duct info...
Car looks sweet! Like a tidy version of mine, haha. Very similar 'spec' but a few months ahead at least (if that makes sense). Keen to see if you have made any more progress mate!
Yeah, that's what I thought... Maybe I just had too much lunch yesterday and put on about 50kg :) Ah well, cage arrived today so that will make it feel slower in a straight line anyway...
Cage arrives today! Got my ass to work half an hour early to pull stuff out...
Had both parts of the dash in and out a few times now so if there is anyone who wants a hand with it just shout... There is a guide for the top half but couldn't find one for the bottom bit. Was a bit tricky...
True - see what I'm doing that weekend... can probably pop in and see some mates on the way, kill 2 birds etc!
Anyone else found their car feeling a fair bit slower after removing the canister, or is it just that the ECU needs some time to adjust? I noticed that the 'plug' in the top of the...
That's what I've done :) Made up some barbed plugs on my lathe and boshed them in. Was a pretty easy job in the end! Seems to be plenty of people on here who are able to help, but if there is anyone reading this and is after some help don't hesitate to PM me :)
Coombe is a bit of a trek from...
Awesome, exactly what I was after, thanks dude!
Any advantage to either technique? I would have thought that if the pipe from the breather, if it needs to maintain a vacuum, should be plugged ideally? Since attaching it to the vent hose from the fuel tank would try and create a vacuum in the...
Thanks man!
However, being a n00b, I now have three parts I don't know the locations of (breather, MAP sensor and plenum)... :)
Anyone know if/where I can find an annotated diagram of the engine bay? Tried a search for various related things both here and Google but no joy... Managed to find...
Cheers for the replies - couple of things to confirm (mega muppet alert, sorry)...
- 'the breather' - which bit is that exactly?
Put my finger over the end of the canister plug last night and it was sucking away happily, this deadened the noise so I'm pretty sure that was the culprit. Wanna...
