It's going to Ryan's garage I'm not touching the it without supervision and a garage full of tools and knowledge, f*cking thing will fall to bits out of spite because it's sat there for years, that car has moods and can fight you if it doesn't feel like being worked on.
I can pikey the Golf...
It runs fine, it just has 130psi compression on three cylinders, 90psi on the other, it misfires and cuts out randomly, too many problems to bother fixing all at once, easier to just swap the engine & loom get it mot'd and see how it goes.
My plan was to get it back on track with an engine swap, then take mine apart and get it rebuilt over a year or two so I don't miss the money, then drop it back in new and improved.
That could be a Pandora's box of expensive problems, it could need everything, cheaper to wait for a good one and just swap it over a weekend with new belts and dephaser.
Cheers for thinking of us mate.
What I'm finding is there's loads for sale ranging from £250-£1000, they all say "good" or "strong" engine, "pulls well" "got vids of it running" I've got vids of mine running a pulling well but it's still f*cked, none of them come with a compression test or any...
Mine was still rapid even with a f*cked engine, even today once it was up to temp the engine ran a lot smoother, other than the misfire.
I'm starting to think after 20 years they're all f*cked unless you spent £5k on a nice one.
Seeing everyone's Clio's last week at CSF made me miss mine so much I decided it needs to be resurrected, even with a f*cked engine it can't just sit there rotting.
(I also needed to weed the concrete)
Battery was utterly dead despite me charging it every month I had nothing but relay...
Tbh I just can't trust it to not cut out, we've replaced the throttle body & accelerator, the injectors & fuel rail, the spark plugs, the HT leads, loads of relays, i'm starting to think that no matter how many problems we solve this cutting out issue will always be left, i'd need to use it for...
It does it at all temperatures, then it won't do it for days, then it'll do it loads for a bit, then go back to being fine for a while, the fact it's still quick with no warning lights or limp mode leads me to think it's a short somewhere.
It also has a miss fire, I don't know if it's related.
Been a while since I updated this thread, my poor Clio has been sat out the front for a couple of years since it started having electrical problems, it randomly cuts out and when started back up has the electrical fault light on the dash, the fuel gauge dies, it over fuels, stinks of petrol and...
I watched that last night, I just don't understand owners like that, restore a car to such an immaculate condition that you dare not drive it incase it gets scratched or dirty, so you buy another one so you can drive that, seems mental to me.
I know people take pride in their cars and the work...
At least the bolt holding the braxcket on didn't fall out while you were on track at CSF, while going through the fastest part of the track at full blast, with your mates misses as a passenger, suddenly realising one of the pedals isn't doing anything anymore is slightly disconcerting to say the...
I'm freelance, I have to work when the works there, or it'll go to other lads and i'll find myself at the back of the queue when it comes to getting offered jobs.
