I think I can do 7, maybe 8 rounds. I'm doing the HSA championship too so permission slips are at a premium!
Really looking forward to it, it's brilliant that the SC class is so popular and so competitive. And I'm keen to see how much time I can find by getting really familiar with a venue. I...
Excellent, proper springs are going to make a load of difference. Definitely worth fitting new struts and top-mounts while it's apart.
I'm a bit jealous of the steering wheel and seat... Can't bring myself to swap mine, feels like the start of a slippery slope!
One practice and three timed is fine if the three timed runs all count towards the results, but many championships only count the first two timed runs. If you're chasing a target time it makes it much harder.
I thought you said I had dibs? ;)
Shame I missed you at Wiscombe yesterday, but it was nice to see the car on the hill. It looked like you were going well.
What's on the shopping list for a replacement?
That's crazy fast. I've done 2-lap once and did a 68.97. I reckon I might be able to work that down to a 68.0 but another second off that is insane.
I really fancy doing the Curborough Championship next year, sounds like a proper challenge.
A camera is so useful, you'll learn loads.
If you've got a Mac, iMovie is brilliant for doing split screen comparisons...
If your competitors are stupid enough to upload their own videos to YouTube you can download them and do the same.
Yep, it's familiarity. I've easily beaten the fast Curborough Fiesta ST at other venues.
It's rare for me to be challenged in the SC class. In the last couple of years I've only lost once, at Curborough at the end of last year when I was beaten by the ST and by another Cup. My first time at the...
Yeah, my understanding is that Standard Car category had a year 2000 cut-off due to the perceived safety of more modern cars.
This was because the original intention of SC was to also relax the PPE requirements, e.g. no overalls, but that didn't happen. Of course, you can enter a standard 205...
Funny you say that, I fitted a new Klarius (spelling?) exhaust from ECP to mine on Tuesday. I haven't had that much fun since I had my ingrowing toe-nail pulled out.
To be fair, it fitted loads better than the previous one which needed the flange modifying with the die-grinder to fit the CAT...
I replace my struts and rear dampers every other year, it's daft not to at the price they are. I've got a supply in readiness for the day that Renault stops selling them! You can change the rears without even taking the wheels off...
Interesting to know that the springs are no longer available...
I've managed a 69.95s Fig.8 on my first visit to Curborough... but your class winner last weekend did a 68.61... not sure that's do-able but I'd love to try!
The Fiestas seem faster than they should be. On paper they're a lot slower than the Clio, but they seem very fast at hillclimbs and the...
You're really inspiring me to do the Curborough championship next year.
It's a venue which I haven't sussed yet, but the top SC times look very challenging to get near. Also really good to see a healthy SC entry, often it's just me in the South-west.
Well done! Which layout was it today, figure of eight?
I think I stay in 2nd through there; it's just about on the limiter before you turn-in, but the lower gear gives you more control into and through the corner. My usual rule of thumb is, where it's borderline which gear you should be in...
Well done, it's looking good!
Mine happily sits on the drive for weeks at a time between events, never had an issue or any hint of an issue with the battery discharging.
For numbers, I use these. 6" in white, and apply to the rear window as you suggested. Sods law says you'll get through...
Welcome to the 172 Cup "Standard Car" sprint/hillclimb club. There are quite a few of us, probably because they're fabulous little things and very competitive.
Good luck!
That was my first thought too, but I don't think so. I didn't ask for Gp.N. Both cams were mis-timed but the inlet was retarded rather than advanced which I'd expect for Gp.N.
Long story which I'll try to keep short...
3.5 years ago I bought my 172 Cup. It needed a cambelt change so took it to a Renault Sport specialist to do that and to re-re-map the engine because the existing re-map was awful (lumpy, flat-spots everywhere, and all the throttle action in the top...
