blimey, 1l is quite a bit to remain in the gubbins of the box. The haynes manual says you fill it till the level is just below the filler hole anyway so it should be easy enought to judge how much goes back in. Got to sort my leak first somehwere around the gear selector mech i think?

why is that??

How tricky is this, only asking as its something i havn't done before, is it as simple as the engine oil. I am pretty sure the oil has been leaking out of the gearbox for a while as it can be tricky to get it into gear when the car is cold.
