New catch isnt modified its the same, i worked at Ipswich Renault! just give them a ring, they will change it for you with any sign of rust, and all i can say is just make sure you keep the new one lubricated to prevent it rusting!!
I was the poor git that had to book these in when the batch...
ok ive got some collinite will give it a go normally use rain x on front window when i can be arsed to buy it, has anyone tried the washer fluid? i bought some last time i went and i think its rubbish!! prefer the fluid tbh.
Yup just spray it in and it should drive the moisture out, our spare boat engine fot wet, and my grandad sprayed wd40 on it, and it had the same effect as being wet, thats when we learnt about this special spray!!
when i worked at renault it was all mk2's that where included int he recall, and Renault have been told to replace them at any sign of rust.
The only thing that bugged me is they are spending the money to do it, and are replacing with like for like catches, and it dont take a genius to work out...
I used to let them clean mine when i was in a hurry, and then one time i took it they used a rubber squegee to get the water off and it scrathed the crap out of my whole car, more so on the bonnet, took me ages to polish all the scratches out, i was furious!, never been back , and family dont go...
I think rain x has to be my favourite, i have never ever tried waxing the glass, can you use somthing like dodo juice? i presume this would only be for the back windows then??
you can get a special spray (we've got some for our boat engine) in marine shops, thats for electronics and drives out water, it is an insulator so will notshort everything out, whereas wd40 will short everything out, especially with somthing like a coil pack!!
whe you lift up the flab at the bottom dont lay under it like i did looking up!! all the s**t thats gone down the back of your seat will fall out! bits of sandwidch, crisps, fluff allsorts :P disgusting!!!!
two elastic lops hook underneath the seat and then you can lift the cover up! its held by littl metal loops though so you can only lift it up so far you have to guess and get your hands in for the rest, dont cut the metal loops, you cnt get them back, and the covers will look loose afterwards!!

if youve got a sunroof, shut all the doors and windows and the air vents, and put the hose in the sunroof, wait till it fills up and see where the water leaks out!!
