Was talking to a friend last night about doing a turbo conversion, or setting my sights on going down the turbo route. It's something that has bugged me for over a year, having had relatively quick R5 GT Turbos back in the day I've always missed turbo power, the torque.
Anyway, his reply was...
54 plate Clio FF in RB, 86k ish, belts and dephasher done at BTM I think early 70k
Over the last 6 months it's had new OE rear discs/pads, front Brembo HC discs, Renault HT leads, NGK plugs
Aero wipers, Renault rear wiper, Renault number plate light
New Alpine headunit with I Pod lead, Alpine...
I live in Thundersley but head over to 2 tree to hit a few balls at the driving range every now and then. Tell a lie I took some pics of my old white track 172 in the car park last year.
I believe the 15mm spacers up front are the 'A' centric type, requiring the longer bolts. I'm using the original wheels bolts at the rear with 5mm universal spacers, wheels areET43, no scrubbing. Id love the TPI bolts but can't imagine they do them longer.
Chip, is that with the Focus FMIC in place? I was just wondering how efficient these universal intercoolers that are on E Bay for the Clio and K Tecs FMiC. 1 can assume that on low boost with the FMIC size there might not be anything to worry about or whether a little R&D went into charge temps...
1 question that springs to mind regarding all these turbo conversions, does anyone know what charge temps they have when giving it full beans. Just thinking out loud after hot intake pipes were mentioned
Super tidy engine bay, I've read this from the start and looking forward to the mapping results. It's something I've been seriously looking into doing.... But scared to actually take the plunge!
Air leaks from either side of the cat could bring up the EML light, mine does so I've bought a new gasket.... And exhaust paste to rectify the problem :o
RB writing on carbon? :D
Out of interest, in the pics can you actually notice the bullets are carbon? :o
I have the original bullets so I could paint them anthracite...
Fitted new Alpine speakers in the front doors as the passenger side speaker was damaged, will change the rear speakers in the next couple of weeks for the same Alpine speakers too
I've mentioned this in another thead that with the 60mm cup fitment there are no middle road priced coilover kits. You either buy V Maxx/K Tec, then to the other end of the spectrum with Spax, H&R, AST. At least with the 54mm fitment you have more options up the price range, IMO for £500-£600...
I'd imagine the Spax RSX kit costs much more than the FK setup. IIRC pre the big discounts from many retailers the SPAX kits were about £799.
Without a doubt I would have ordered another set of FKs but the RB has 60mm 'cup' hubs
FK Konigsports coilover kit, for the price they're spot on with adjustable damping, ride height, camber. Dampers are by Koni
I had a set new on the white track 172, brilliant..
AFAIK the ET43 offset was down to the cup race cars being so low it sat the wheels inside the arches more (pub talk?) I believe they come in ET38 too, I wanted to fill out the arches that little bit, it doesn't rub.
Really, really appreciate all the comments :o :)
Its riding on the Spax RSX coilovers, wheels are ET43, 15mm spacers up front, 5mm rear spacers and geometry set up by Code Red Motorsport.
Just so happy how the Clio has turned out over the last 4-5 months. To be honest there's not much more I...
