I've not been into photography long and wanted to have a taste of macro so I ordered some cheapo £4.99 tubes from eBay and was pretty pleased with the results. Here's my efforts

The DoF is tiny though and I can't change my aperture but it's got me pretty...
Got some cheap macro extension tubes today, here's one of my first shots. Pretty pleased with it and barely had to crop it :)

I got a 13" MBP with Applecare on student discount for just over £900. The apple care cost just over £50 I think with discount and obviously gives a 3 year repair coverage.
Try a manufacture refurbished unit, I bought a 500D for £345 and have seen various 1000D (entry level) cameras go for less than £250

Keep an eye...
I've just got a manufacturer refurbished Canon 500D for less than £350 with a kit lens. It arrived brand new, everything packaged up. Absolute bargain as it still comes with the 1 year warranty!
Use that link that's on the first page and have a little bid, can't believe how cheap I've got it for. Nearly saving £200 off a brand new price. Can't wait for it to arrive, now I just need to save for a 50mm lens, tripod and filters haha.
Yeah I looked into Canons' warranty and it is 12 months, and most other refurbs sellers on eBay offer a 12 month Canon warranty. So I've emailed the seller to ask why they don't offer this warranty, see what they say.
Cheers for the help so far, Symon thankyou I've just found this;

Seems awesome value for money?
Been to have a look at the different models today, held them in my hand and even took a few pictures with them. Well, the 550D just felt awesome in my hand and the images I took even though they were in a shop looked great. Now to save up for one of those!
Had a quick browse on Ebay, found this...
Thanks for the replies, the 550D is quite a fair bit out of budget. Didn't really want to spend more than £400 in all honesty! Steer clear of the 1100D then?
