another advantage to using a subframe is that it has a harness mounting point ( handbrake side) so you therefore dont need to drill a hole through the transmission tunnel to mount an eyebolt to mount your harness

the subframe bolts to the original floor holes and creates a flat surface to mount the side mounts to (clio has stupid un-even floor pan) so it saves you having to drill through the chassis. and then you bolt the sidemounts to the subframe if someone else is driving and you want the seat to...

yep as above its the spade connector to the starter motor, just un-clip it and clean it. it stops working as it gets corroded with crap.
