I really fancy getting a 16v, maybe accident damaged to do this with. Strip it out and use it as a track day car, and to keep the miles down on the 172. Am saving a bit of cash to do this after christmas.
lol, I gave them four things yesterday, the spent 8.5hrs on the one fault, the 4k rattle, not solved and didnt have time to look at anything else.
Im now waiting for renault uk to send a technical person out at there convienence, i must ensure the car is at the dealers on the date they decide...
If you look on the U shape part that the boot locks into, there is a stared screw which, when loosened, will allow you to move the U up and down to get a better fit. Have done this myself and cured the rattle as had it myself. Just took a bit of testing to find the right position.
Been in yet again to have the 4k rattle sorted once and for all. Or so I thought.......
Another new centre section later (the 3rd in 18K) and 8.5 hours of trying and the vibrations not gone. So they given me a piece of paper headed with the thread title from the renault technical system...
In 195/45/16 on mytyres: toyos are £41.6 and the GSD3 is £81.30. The wear rate is similar. The performance whilst better in GSD3 in the wet is better, it really doesnt justify the extra cost in my opinion. In the dry ther really is little difference. Although both have a high wear rate, but...
I had the same as above. Unfortunatlety one morning I hit a rabbit and it shatter.ed looks good, kinda finishs the front nicely. On the look out for another. Just not prepare to pay £135 from renault. Dead easy to fit though, was just, 6-8 self tapping screws.
Id just throughly check it when it comes. Also if possible try and get down to the dealers to check over the viechle in your time before they get you sign anything. If your not happy walk away. The are plenty more around.
Id go with Toyos, not as good as the Goodyear GSD3, but at half the price the difference isnt that much. Im back on Toyo after my standard Contis, and gotta say Im mighty impressed. £41 in 195/45/16 is the cheapest tyre.
Though if its a 96, then its an M or N reg, suppose whether its worth it depends on the mileage and condtion of other bits such as interior, bodywork. Also find out whether its listed.
might get something off the warranty, but Id expect to contribute, as it is an item that wears. Not too costly, dont know what renault would charge, id get renault to diagnose, work out what percentage you have to pay, then find out if you can get done cheaper by a local garage.
I got a 172 to subframe for £100, was £450 from renault, but got it from www.cit-ren.co.uk. £110 including delivary. Have used an A frame to lower tne subframe with suspension and then rasied the chasis up. assuming that the design is similar, it is a fairly big, job which at a garage would cost...
After the post on here a couple of days ago, think my fuel gauges is knackered. Had covered just over 200 miles. and had the fuel low warning light came on:confused:, evern thouht the was more than a 1/4 of a tank left accorgong to the actual gauge and read I only had 0miles to go. Anyone any...
This comment will just cause arguments. I take it you own a Mk1, and arent biased in anyway:D
Generally agree with what tom says. But was happy to have either. Just when i was buying xreg Mk1 172 were 10k and I paid 11.8K for and 02 reg which was 2years newer. Plus like the climate and xenons...
